Will 19 or 20 inch wheels affect my gas mileage on my 2007 TL Type-S?
I have a 2007 Acura TL Type-S. I'm looking to find some wheels. I would like to put big wheels from 18's to 20's on my car because i think it looks better, but i don't want it to affect my gas mileage. Could anyone Help me out

20's should affect your mileage in the city, maybe better on open road. And with 20's, unless your roads are perfect, get ready fot a lot of dents. In addition you will have to lower the car, unless you want it to look like a tractor! Maybe I am wrong on the mileage, sure you will get a lot of good feedback from members.

hello welcome to AZ, I would post in the wheel and tire section for this type of question.
anyway try searching for "wheels gas mileage" here see what you find.
But to answer your question:

well for starters your gas mileage goes down a tad bit percentage wise mainly and it makes your engine work a little bit harder than it should but nothing major though depending on what came stock on your car, your 0-60 obviously is going to be affected a little bit as well, but nothing major or anything that you'd notice just if its placed on like a performance scale or something but to the natural eyes your car'll just look better, oh and your ride isnt going to be as smooth, just remember that!

Welcome to Acurazine, Khova. 19's will look better anyway.
20's are too much for this car.

They do make Low Profile 20's but it will make your ride and butt bumpy. Any 20 on that car regardless of profile is Harsh.
Ditto on staying away from 20's like the others say.
Look at Tire Rack and note the revolutions required for a measured mile {specs}.
The size and profile will slightly effect your mpg, odometer, and how hard your engine works.

I wonder how many people who say 20s are harsh actually drove with them? I have had 20s for 2 years now and honestly the ride isn't bad, I used to drive 50 miles round trip each day to school with them. The only time I can say its harsh is when I'm riding over rough pavement and its not that much worse than when I had 18s on. I do have 245/35/20 tires though to give me a little more meat on the sidewall. As for the tractor look, some do have it, but mine does not so I guess its more dependent on each individual car. My gas mileage did decrease about 2mpg in the city, when straight highway the difference is null, as I can still get about 30 mpg straight highway driving. As for lightweight 20s you would need to go for forged wheels which costs more $$, but if I could this is definitely the way I would go, some of my favorite forged wheels would be Work's http://www.workwheelsusa.com/. Definetely sexy wheels and they can make them to fit over your brembo's no problem.

SHAWD 04TL is in
Im with most, 20s aren't for everyone, and to pull them off right, you have to have at least a 1.5" drop or more. If not u look like a 4x4 DONK
But contrary to others opinions (I have both) 19s are not noticeably smoother that 20's. If you really think about it, its only half an inch of difference all the way around. The only reason Im not running my 19's more often is the crazy costs of tires. Since 20's are more common, the tire prices are lower.... go figure.

Well, when I think of 20's done right on the 3G...your car, with those wheels you had on there, is the only one that comes to mind.
Actually, was working with the dude you had sold them to to try and buy them, but even at a crazy low price, my girl didn't dig them for her accord and I couldn't justify spending any money on it.

If you usually drive very consistantly ie. same exact commute to work 5 times a week you will notice 1-2mpg loss going to 19's. I have a 07 Type S 6mt (which does signficantly better on fuel than the auto version), but even I lost a little when I had my 19"s on. The ride did not suffer much, but it was a bit firmer and the car felt a tad heavier as well. I eventually went back to my OEM 17" wheels and the car feels nimble again. I weighed both OEM and the 19" RJ Legends. I dont remember exact differences, but it was a big difference I do remember that much. The 19"s were still bad ass, but to answer your question yes there will be some performance and economy loss going with a much heavier wheel.

For what it is the TL does great on fuel I think. My TL-S 6mt averages 25+mpg each tank with ZERO highway use just far suburban driving. Two tanks ago I averages 27.2mpg with only 100miles of the tank highway. I know the auto's arent nearly as good on fuel, but even so they are decent I would say. No complaints from me anyway :-)
