Well maybe you should consider that you are the ignorant one and that I did think before I spoke. I owned GM products in the past and I can honestly say until their quality matches that of a non domestic that I will never again. Sure they may make a car that looks decent or do some pretty cool things but the quality is lacking hardcore. I am speaking of the GM since they stopped making cars such as the chevette and the F-Body's and other awesome cars that GM use to make before they went to hell in a hand basket. GM use to be something and today it is not other than the classics that are lucky enough to still be around.

I guess personal opinions vary. I've owned American my whole life and I've never had any problems. I think problems with imports get overlooked more than Domestics. If a Domestic maker had a class action lawsuit on their trans, leather that looks terrible in the first year, torn compliance bushings on 99% of the cars, relentless clunks from the front suspension, squeaks and rattles of an econobox, dashboard cracking, noisy powersteering when cold, detonation prone in the hot months, defective oem batteries, an HFL that drains the battery when it fails, and an ultra sensitivity to tire balance and suspension alignment, people would be all over it.
The issues I've seen in most Domestics are the stuff you can really see like interior parts falling off but the drivetrains are usually bulletproof.

They have gone through dark times just as every manufacturer has. Don't forget how unreliable imports were up until the late '80s/early '90s. Let's not forget about the Toyotas killing people because they did not want to spend the money on safety measures. The list is endless. I've learned that in these types of discussions people already have their minds made up and will not listen to anything else. So here's a cut and past of mine from another thread as I don't really care enough to argue.

I'm real glad he's representing the state of Indiana so well. Hobart, IN is a smelly little dump town up north...drive through it every month on my way to Michigan. Suite.
I think his next mod should be debadging...so no one knows what kind of car he's driving.

What's wrong with you people?
It's ok to have a negative opinion, but to go further is simply not nice. It would be extremely closedminded to think that you hold the definition of cool. You need to understand that other people might like other things, other things that you might not like. Harrasing other people like this is just wrong. Don't be a bully.
Tough choice.
"Are you serious? You ruined that car. Plus it's not a 2007. With the money you spent on those wheels you could have gotten a true 2007 TL. Sadly I had to resort to giving your car one star, but it doesn't even deserve that much. What a disgrace. Oh and please stay away from Acurazine.com unless you want to get flamed for donking out a TL."

come on people
People. Don't be so shallow. People do things because they want to. Respect that. Has everything you've done in your life been "cool?" There are and were times and places where fat women were and are preferred over skinny ones. Preferences change and vary depending on many factors. Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean it gives you a license to ridicule others that do.
Don't get me wrong. It's ok to poke a little fun at some of these absurdities, but to make personal attacks and wishing ill is going too far. Be a little nicer and realize these things are important to other people.

I think the 700 was ok for use in cars. A little undersized for some of the truck/engine combos it came behind. It had kind of a rough transition into electronic form (4L60E) with some failures in the early years caused by the electronics but they we worked out.
We saw a fair number of 700-R4s come in for rebuilding but the vast majority were caused from improper TV cable adjustments.
One thing I will say is while the design was solid, there seemed to be some quality control issues seemingly caused during assembly and some casting issues with pistons during some years and others were flawless.
In racing it can hold up ok but the limit was the case splitting around 600lbs of torque. That sucked because unlike other transmissions where you can stack billet parts, better/more clutches, there is no way to not crack the case so the limit is the limit.
IMO, the 4L80E should've been used in many cases where the 4L60E was used.
GM was smart enough to make the 700s shift quick and crisp. Part of the problem with the early electronics I mentioned were caused by them trying to get a super soft shift which led to failures just like Honda does.

But I think this goes beyond bad taste or a difference in opinion. I hate 99% of the slammed TLs on here but I don't say anything because I would classify that as a difference in opinion or taste. But that car is a tragedy.

Are you guys kidding me?????
Guys, this is getting ridiculous.
First, you're getting way off topic here.
Second, Robocam-you don't need to play jury here. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. Obviously, this TL was posted because the wheel are way oversized for the car. It's all in good fun. Let it go.....
Let's get back on topic or this thread will be closed.

Some of you guys are pretty harsh
It could be way worse.. it could be purple two toned, 24" screens on the back of the seats with lambo doors.. or a chromed out Walmart / Autozone special with a wing that could lift a 747.
Donking the TL is no more atrocious than a slam and a tuck.

You gotta wonder how the brakes are holding up in there. They've never been the best components on Hondas/Acuras, and with these ginormous rollers it'd be almost downright dangerous.
