WDP Stock Can Look Nice @ the Beach

How do you give that dry desert look? is it photoshop or is the camera?

these pictures are all hdr. i shot it with a rebel xt, with aeb +1/0/-1. then combined them to hdr with photomatix. after that was done, fixed the colors with photoshop.
