How did you take the rails off? I might put mine on tonight.

 

I never took them off, I only put the overlay under the rubber part of the rails. If you peel back the rubber part you can run the overlay in there.

Clear Kote has a product out called Vanilla Moose Glaze and it works great on the vinyl roof.
I have had mine on since March .. washed 50 + times and in 105F heat with no issues.

The weld strips on each side pop out easy for installation. Just use a block of wood and a hammer to tap then 1/2" forward from the rear . then there is 3 clips .. you roll them out of the clips by twisting them to the outside of the car.

You don't need to totally remove them.

 

That Vanilla moose glaze I guess it's a form of wax?

 

Yes .. Glazes usually have a bit of cleaners in them and do a lot of filling of very minor imperfections like hazing .. In the case of the vinyl roof you apply it inthe shade and remove it with a very soft M/F towel.

Sorry to bump the thread, but how hard was it to install the overlay? Are there any shops in the NYC area who do this kinda stuff?

Sick ride, too bad I couldn't find a WDP TLS so I had to go with NBP.

 

That is really cool- antenna should be wrapped too IMO, but for style the black roof is a nice way to set yourself apart. Nice that it isn't permanent in case you decide to do something else.

When I get my wheels I may try this out as well...

My sticker is holding up just well after 5-6 months! This was a good mod.

 

do they make the over lay so it cover the antenna?

 

If I remember correctly some one tried to get an over lay on it and after several hours gave up. Getting the vinyl to sit smoothly on that sort of shape is a huge pain. I'm sure it can be done with enough time and patience.

i hope u dont live anywhere it gets too hot in the summer.. or ull be quite bummed when u take that shit off.. id never put a sticker on my damn roof

 

I have taken a lot of this stuff off and its not a big job. Don't let it scare you . It gets over 100 F up here and down to -15

 

Actually it was installed during aug. When summer is at it's worse. Temps hit 95 sometimes and it was always out in the sun. I had to lift up a piece to fix something and it came off right away. It's like any other vinyl sticker, its paper thin..

Again each to their own. If you want to spend 500+ bucks for someone to paint your roof correct then god bless you. If you want to spend 50 bucks and DIY I guess more power to you.

Are they both going to be overlay? Having a real CF roof wing and a CF sticker on the roof will look real cheap. Ive only seen one picture of a good quality CF overlay. It's expensive but worth it.

 

Nothing cheap on my ride Gus, if I decided to do it, it will be the good stuff, it's like they say in spanish " Lo Barato Sale Caro" ( The cheap is usaully more expensive )
