UniqueStyleRacing clear diffuser installed

I had a lot of trouble with this one. The clear lenses seem too long. I ended up breaking both center strips and there is a gap. It doesn't look bad but if you are studying it really close you might see it. Anyway here are some pics. Let me know if you have the same issue with yours.

Honestly, it looks fine, but why spend the extra money (and I know these are expensive) when you can just take out the clear diffuser and get just about the same look?

Seems like an expensive piece just to cover up a light bulb.

Thanks for the comments. I will get to more pics eventually. I just became a father this week so sleep and free time are lacking. The roof is painted, I had it done two years ago and I still love it.

As for those on the fence, I would say wait and see if others have the same problem that I had. If they do then this is defiantly not worth it. I was wanting to change my headlights. I did them before the type-s came out and they looked to much like the type-s headlights. I wanted a reflector up front and this gave me the perfect option. Here are lights before.

i recently made an order from USR as well.

04-08 Acura TL Black/Clear Tail Light + 4 pieces White LED Smoke Side marker lights

i received the items on monday, and went to install the taillights and front/rear sidemarkers last night.

1. I was sent the wrong bulbs for the taillights.
2. I was either sent the wrong front/rear sidemarkers, or they forgot to include an adapter harness for them.

the bulbs for the tails were the wrong fitment, wrong bulbs period. should have gotten 7440 bulbs, idk what these bulbs are that i got.

the sidemarkers adapters were too small to fit the existing harness cable into

the bulbs that were sent are the red ones on the left, the stock one is the one on the right. you can clearly see how the ends are completely different. no way to fit.

the OEM sidemarker is the one marked "13.5v" on the bottom. you can clearly see how the harness plug socket, in the middle, is much larger than the AFTERMARKET sidemarker socket that was sent to me. no way to fit.

needless to say i am less than thrilled about all of this. after taking off the bumper and laying down all the ground work, i get to find out that i can't even install the sidemarkers or use the bulbs for the tails.

luckilly i had some identical orange bulbs to put in temporarily until i get this resolved.
god how i hate orange

the tails themselves, meh...idk really, i guess they are alright. i'll have to do some modifications to them so that they won't look so cheap. they def are not "black" housing, they in no way shape or form match my NBP paint whatsoever. yes, i know that i can't expect them to, but it is seriously nowhere close. i'll end up painting the housing myslef.

i sent USR an email bright n early this morning, and haven't heard anything back. for a new vendor on this site, they've def left a bad taste in my mouth.

OP, your lenses look alright. sorry for throwing this all into your thread, but you stated you had issues so i am backing you up with the issues i've had as well.

if you ask me, i think all these items they're sending out were bought in major bulk and were not test fitted or checked over. just pay for em n ship em out. quality control is lacking.

He had just that, blacked out no diffuser. I do agree it looks better. And it doesn't just cover up the bulb. It disffuses the light for better light dispersion.

If you like modding and are a DIY'er and don't have these but want them. Or if you have pre 07-08 type-s headlights unmodded and want these in, I'd say it's worth it.

OP, they look great, sucks it's not a perfect fit. But it's really not that noticeable. Good job!

Well those side markers will not fit a TYPE-S. TYPE-S side markers are a larger opening which is why use 04-06 base guys can use TYPE-S side markers and why there really is no stock option for the TYPE-S guys. You can try drilling and cutting them to work but who want to do all of that crap?

About the sidemarkers...I put in the type S in my 04 and the harness doesn't match, even on OEM. You CAN force them in (at least mine I was able to) and they'll come on no problem.

To the OP, thank you for posting pics. Not going to knock it, but I'm kinda glad my gf persuaded me not to buy them. I prefer the blacked out amber I have right now. Looks great though, but you can still almost see through the diffuser and see the bulb etc. If that's the case I'd opt to have no diffuser (for cheapskate purposes of course).

About the tails...I think with the clear diffusers the tails are a no brainer. They would match perfectly. That said, the shipping was kinda slow (for $27) BUT packaging made up for it...well packaged and might be coming from Canada so timeframe is understandable. The fitment on the lights is great, and I believe it's stated that the bezel is flat black. They look great IMO. I'll put some wax on em to keep the lenses from turning...worst case, type s lights back in, or stock reds. The ONLY complaint I had, which I made a suggestion to them for...is that the turn signal area is very chromey...and the clear diffuser back there is very clear...so the brake area that is clear looks smoked, as does the reflector on the bottom...but the corner is very very clear and at an angle it is very near the type S sidemarker that is smoked. I'm thinking this weekend, I'll carefully tape off that area on the outside of the light and lightly VHT nighshades it...then clear it, then buff it out. Or I'll leave it as is.

I think overall they are putting out products that are in high demand and at the GB rate...we can all take a deep breath and make it work. Perfect, not yet, but hey, I remember when you're spending 400 on ghost tails that you have to open up and might leak etc. For 170 shipped, I got no complaints.

I am very happy with them dispite the troubles. The gap is hardly noticeable and it really makes the silver look sharp.

If someone else has difficulty installing the diffusers I would suggest sanding down the side closest. To the projector. It might take some time but it would be better than breaking it.

Hey man...that's all that counts.
Good job giving people a tip for install too. They do look great, no doubt. Gives the light a cleaner and more finished look.

SharksBreath....04-06 TL had 7440 and 7443 bulbs....07+ TL's and TL-S's have a different bulb i think 1157 and 1158 and I think there was some confusion....perfect time to see how USR handles these issues....

i believe the rear turn signals are 7440 for 04-08 including type-s. i was just sent some random DEPO bulbs that go to nothing, the stock OEM bulbs that are housed behind the type-s tails are hyper white, so i couldn't even use those with these new tails. i just used some orange ones i had lying around, i need red 7440's tho...

the 1157/58 are for the front turn signals, i think...someone correct me if i am mistaken.

Just a suggestion....order a set of LED 7440's from VLED's. Those red bulbs are going to reflect red in the clear housing when light hits them, so the tails won't look uniformly clear across the back. That's just what I would do....I'm anal about shit like that. I like everything to match.

I think VED's has an active coupon code right now for 15% off too.....

That is correct. Only the turn signal of the TYPE-S is the 1157, the rears are all the same at 7740.

^^and that is why I got the chrome dipped amber 7443's...
Shark, you did reuse the socket from the OEM ones, right? I mean, technically you can wire up whatever socket you want but you could have transferred your stock ones until you figure out what bulb you want to use.

About the bike, no sir, those magura's came on it stock. It's an 07 stumpy fsr pro. Gotta love it...you probably have better trails though...lol.

are those led's going to throw a code? if so, i'll just get regular red chrome lights for cheaper

rockstar, the OEM white lights (that were in my type-s tails) are obsolete at this point bc i couldnt have white turn signals, so i happened to have extra orange 7440's lying around, and am using them for the time being, until i get the reds in. i found a few on eBay, probably will go with them unless the v-leds led's won't throw a code and arent too $$$

No, but you will need to install load resistors to prevent hyper blinking. Very easy to install, V-LED's will provide instructions.

ok, so after talking with Simon over at USR, things are going to be resolved on both our ends.

he has been more than helpful, and was willing to work with me. i have no problems with their company at this point. they ended up doing a standup job for me, regarding the issues i had. nobody should hesitate to use them as a vendor, just make sure your parts will fit. i, myself, wasn't aware the sidemarkers would not harness properly. live and learn...

all is well now, and USR gets my vote. i'll be ordering from them in the future.
