Type-S WDP Ebony 6MT, mugen-k's updates

I recently became the fortunate owner of an '07 TL Type-S in WDP with Ebony/Silver interior and a 6spd MT, my ideal combo.

The mods will be relatively light and basic as this will primarily be my daily and I already have another project car. However since that project is on hold for the time being the Type-S will be keeping me busy (and my bank account empty) in the meantime.

Some mods done so far:

Tein S-tech springs:

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00133.jpg

Absolutely love the subtle drop over stock and the ride is great too. Not too high, not too low and perfect imo...for these wheels anyway ;)

Tint, 35% front 15% rear

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00222.jpg

First time owning a car with tint. Must say I've been missing out.

One of a few parts I bought even before I got the car,

DICE Mediabridge:

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00158.jpg

Had the car in pieces the night I got it to install this thing. Half way through I was like "what have I done" but it all came back together alright and everything works great.
Bluetooth a2dp streaming is a must have for me in all my cars. Ideal for short trips where I can just leave my phone in my pocket but still control it through steering wheel and dash controls. Though the Mediabridge has added text display and speech functions I've never had before so that's a plus.

Here are a couple of the parts I've been collecting in preperation for my NAVTOOL install:

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00153.jpg

Pretty much have everything I need just waiting for a good time to tear everything apart. Mainly to use my iPhone with to display video and as a screen for my Macbook on longer trips.

OEM all weather floor mats including trunk mat:

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00251.jpg

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00254.jpg

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00252.jpg

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00253.jpg

Ordered these before receiving the car as well. Another must have for winter even though it's almost over. However they do their job with any precipitation not just snow so it was still worth getting them. Plus it's nice throwing a wet wash mitt or towel on the mats when you're at the carwash to get it home to dry.

Next winter I'll get the weathertechs like I wanted (found a great deal online for them too) but I got these first since it came with the trunk mat which weather tech doesn't make (for navi equipped cars anyway).

Acura 2012 White Navigation Disc:

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00242.jpg

LED interior dome lights

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00235.jpg

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00263.jpg

The license plate and reverse lights are done as well

I have a pair of supercomputers pedals for MT:

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...S/DSC00141.jpg

Not sure if I'm going to install/use them though. Might be for sale if I don't.

More things to come and some already on their way :)

callahan 02-12-2012 02:08 PM

looks clean! Good find, gl with all the mods.

Otacon 02-12-2012 02:10 PM

You've got some serious will power to hold out for what you want. I looked every day for 3 months and only found 1 6MT in PA but the seller wouldn't budge on price so I settled for the S I have now. I wanted either KBP or MRP 6MT, Ebony.

sockr1 02-12-2012 03:23 PM

congrats on the car i'm glad it worked out for you!! in my opinion by far the best combo of the type s' out there, but then again i'm bias haha. very lucky to score that combo

can't wait to see the progress you make on it, mods or not i'm sure you're going to love it!! what mods did you already do?

JD TL-S 02-12-2012 03:26 PM

Nice Type S congrats on the purchase. Remember the 6mt Type S is pretty damn sweet as is so keep the mods tasteful please nothing goofy :-)

BaucE 02-12-2012 04:16 PM

If i told you, you had a perfect TL. I feel like it would still be an understatment.

Will1688 02-12-2012 04:31 PM

Oh definitely. That's the last thing I would ever do. I spent too much time finding it to just "ruin" it. A majority of my plans for it are light and nothing irreversible for the most part.

But just to give you and idea of my "taste" here's a quick pic of my other car I've been modding for the past 8+years

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2661/...c36_z.jpg?zz=1

and that was from '09. Since then its be rebuilt since I wasn't happy with it.

cjTL 02-12-2012 04:51 PM

Beautiful. The best car Acura has ever made (behind the NSX).

With that said and by the looks of the picture I think its safe to say this Type S found its way into the hands of a good owner! Congrats again on the purchase

Thanks and agreed. Couldn't have it any other way :)
Well I could of but I would have just regretted it.

It seems to be a trend for sure. Every time I saw a thread for a newly owned WDP in the past month or so made me so much more eager to finally get mine haha.

Dat Boi Ralph 02-13-2012 09:21 AM

Congrats on your new Type-S

GTsetGO 02-13-2012 09:51 AM

splew 02-13-2012 12:50 PM

Nice find. I know how hard it can be to find a used 6-speed TL.

mugen-k 02-13-2012 01:11 PM

Thanks everyone. I'm absolutely in love with this thing and can't get enough of it. I used to like my 8-10min commute to work cause i could sleep in later, save on gas, get home early etc etc but now I wish it was longer! Plus I can't sleep in since I'm excited about driving the TL lol.

Finding a 6spd was a mission and a half and so hard to be patient when plenty of perfectly fine (not to mention cheaper) cars with the same combo in AT begging to be purchased. But I listened to everyone that said I'd regret it and just want MT anyway so I held out.

Right now after only a few days of ownership I couldn't imagine if I had gone with AT instead. Has the fun of my del sol but 10 times more comfortable and refined. Truly the best of both worlds.

06WDPAspec 02-13-2012 01:48 PM

Congrats!

Mine's not a Type S, but still took just as long to find a WDP, Ebony Interior, and 6MT.

Worth the wait.

mn2trance 02-13-2012 02:59 PM

Congrats on the pick up and good choice on the transmission option. Nothing beats rowing your own gears. :toocool:

nrvuz 02-13-2012 03:13 PM

Very sweet ride. That is an awesome color combo & again congrats!

LoveMyTL-S 02-13-2012 04:14 PM

Congrats  Welcome to AZ! Check out the 3G garage for tons of info. Also register your TL at www.myacura.com in the USA or https://www.myacura.acura.ca/ in Canada. Save your Navi and Radio codes there. Check for any recalls your TL may need.

Julian G 02-14-2012 05:29 AM

mugen-k 02-14-2012 08:20 AM

So I went to lunch with a few coworkers yesterday and of course I offered to drive (wasn't going to pass up the opporunity to show it off for the first time lol) and it definitlely fit four comfortably. Much better than the TSX I had for a week which I heard nothing but complaints about from the back.

One of my bosses saw it and did not believe me when I told him it was a 5 year old car. He swore it looked brand new. I guess spending a majority of this weekend detailing it paid off lol.

Figures it starts to snow as soon as I finally get to drive the TL while there hasn't been any these past couple of weeks. Oh well I don't mind cleaning it repeatedly so not a big deal. It's a good thing I already bought all weather floor mats before I even go the car and I have a set of weathertechs on their way.

The summer tires in this weather aren't as bad as I thought they would be and having MT to better control wheel speed definitely helps. VSA does the job as well.

Anyway just thought I'd share some of my experiences with the car I've had so far. I'm definitely pleased with it there's no doubt about that.

Here's another pic I took this weekend:

https://i632.photobucket.com/albums/...S/DSC00094.jpg

Eventually I was looking to possibly start a build/update thread. From what I've seen so far the photography section is the right place for that?

LoveMyTL-S 02-14-2012 08:32 AM

Sounds like you're having tons of fun with the TL. What did your friends say?

And yes, the Photography section is a good place for a update thread.

mugen-k 02-14-2012 08:38 AM

Yes a blast. The anticipation of imaginging what it would be like to finally have one has added to the enjoyment I think.

They were all fairly impressed and had good things to say.

I had been hyping this thing up to one of them for the past couple of weeks so I think he finally got to see what all the fuss was about.
