TL on 18inch OZ rims

well, since my key is stuck in the ignition, the car is stuck at the dealer until tuesday (damn). the ignition solenoid burned out.

but here's some pics of my 18x8x45mm OZ Superleggera rims with Falken 245/40/18 ST115 tires.

Put them on your loaner... if you got one. J/K

Can't wait to see them on your car. I actually considered get these same wheels. They should look good on the TL.

i can't wait either, had OZ rims with Falkens sitting in my basement since this past friday.

my dealer just called me, says the new ignition was leaving to a local locksmith to get re-keyed to my keys. i should have the car back today and will have OZ rims on by 7:30pm. at this time the lighting will be poor to get some good shots. i should have some quality pics posted by saturday.

i knew all would get a chuckle. i was trying to humor myself since the dealer was gonna keep my car over the holiday weekend. they fixed the issue with the key, but they scratched up 2 interior panels and the sterring wheel center (piece that you hit for horn) does not look like it went back on correctly. dealer will fix, but now it's the hassle factor that's starting to bug me.

i've been playing around with the digi-pic features of my Canon Xi camcorder and i have a wide angle lens and star filter i want to test out. i hope to get some nice pics posted up on saturday. it's been a long process getting my OZ rims and Falken tires due to shipping issues and product issues. now that i have it on the guy i love it's looks and ride, and i am itching to get some nice pics of this car.

Salut
just a note, wheter it be these rims or others, they don't look the same in pics as they do in person. for some reason (maybe it's the poor 3.1M-pixel camera i have) but these OZ rims look washed out, and in person this rim/tire combo looks bigger on the car than it's looks in these pics.

and i'm sure there will be plenty of people who don't like them...

cheers

follow-up.

oem 17" 235/45/17 el42 weighed in at 47.0 lbs.

OZ/Falken 18" 245/40/18 47.2 lbs, and unfortunately i believe the Falken is about 27lbs, which is heavier than the el42. what does this mean? it means that there is more mass further out on my OZ/Falken setup than there was on the oem setup, which means OZ/Falken 18" setup has alot more rotational inertia which makes it harder to de/accellerate the rims (harder to pickup speed and more braking required to slow it down). but it looks better

lesson learned - you may not benefit from a large diameter light rim because the tire you fit will have lots of mass away from rotational axis...

car looks good. i would like to see closer shots. the way i see it, if you can get almost the same weight from a 18" tire/wheel package as that of the 17" set, then you have done well.

Wheels look like they were made for the car. I might have to rethink my wheel decision. Where did you purchase and what was the damage?

www.bigwheels.net $1280 (OZ)
www.hptire.net $496 (Falken)

i'll have to admit, RonJon Inspyres do looks more "sport" than my OZ, but i feel these OZ's look more "luxury" which is what i was after.

One of the things I love about the stock rims is how easy easy easy they are to clean. Those, well those don't look like any fun in that department.
