Tire blowout =( 56k, bake cookies. lots of pics.

Here is how she sits now.. crazy how badly this has come about. I don't know the cause of this bad bad tire wear... anybody got any comments or anything, feel free to ask and answer.

These tires were pretty fresh when I bought them. I went in today to America's tire Co. to see if they would refund it for me because of how this gave out on me. They said it will not be under warranty because it's supposed to be "wear and tear" from owner.. I even told him that the sidewalls started to crack and and as u can see, it has. This is also with the OTHER tire that has not popped yet, but is headin on it's way to blowing.

I also let him know that i GOT an alignment in february and told him i have all the paper work if he wants to see it, he refused to see it and told me that i needed a front camber plate .

I'm on Tein-ss's and dropped pretty low. maybe 1/2 a finger gap below tire.

Hmm how is your driver side front tire looking? Have you jacked up the car or taking the other wheel/tire off to monitor to see if anything was occuring to that wheel or tire? I would have to say it looks like the result of a poor alignment/toe done to it. I mean you can get a camber kit for the front. But the key is a good alignment/toe correction. And what tires are you running hard to tell?

that's pretty much what i thought man. I went to a pertty legit place tho, in my area, every tuner recommends them

I am running Goodyear F1 Summer tires.. they are charging me like 261/tire!

Damn bro thats crazy, but I hear those tires are excellent. Definately shouldn't of happen. I would say you are pretty damn lucky though atleast nothing happended to your wheel, or cause you to loose control of the car and something more tradgic to happen. I'd just suggest hitting up another alignment place and make sure they are able to one work on a lowered car and two able to correct your toe to zero as humanly possible.

damn that sucks bro. like what distorted said. i think it's a Toe problem.. im slammed but i still only have 2 degrees of camber up front. Toe will destroy your tires way more than camber will. also do u drive pretty aggressively? reason i ask cause i drive like a grandma when i take turns lol

Well he said he had an alignment.

It looks like the shoulder was constantly rolling over or the sidewall buckling. It's so clean it looks almost cut.

If it's not a manufacturing defect, are sure you had good tire pressure, appropriate Section width for the wheels, etc?

Are any of the other tires doing that?

Oh, yeah .... and is that Volk Wheel face down on the pavement?

damn why does your tire seem to be aspect ratio 30 instead of 35? looks like a clean incision... you sure it was because of the road? i think someone took a scalpel and performed open tire surgery on your car.

same here, this has to be the first time i've ever seen tire wear like this. I know i have a crap load of tread left on these tires too, but unluckily for me, they are done for already. I put on quite some miles already.

Yeah I thought about that later today, could possibly be a defected tire. Hard to say but knowing the tire place you went to they could possibly say it happended because of your altered suspension and how you aren't running any sort of camber kit for your type of drop.

I mean you could go back and complain to them, don't know if they are a good shop or not. But most likely they will feed you some bullshit and tell you because of your drop that is what affected your tire to happen like that. But imo I would have to say from the looks of the tire like I stated before looks like to be because of a very shitty alignment/and not correcting the toe as good as possible. I think going back to the place that did that and explaining to them what happended won't hurt anything. Maybe they will try and compensate you somehow but probably highly doubtful.

I have the same tires. I take curves pretty fast and mine are still in very good shape (3rd summer). They're worn evenly.

I'll go back the the alignment shop. Something's wrong just by seing a side worn like this!

Thanks god you didn't lose control.

Good luck.

You should get the tires first, get them mounted and then do the alignment.

chill_dog, 4th pic from the bottom -thought the wheel was lying flat, but upon further review, I think the OP is holding it up; just a 2D optical illusion, I guess.

Can someone explain the physics/mechanics that would allow bad Toe alignment to cut the tire around the outer shoulder/sidewall?

(Because I don't get it. )

^ it might have been because of me rolling around flat for >1 mile..

but a crack is ALSO seen on my OTHER tire that isn't flat.. i would say abotu 10-15mm

I figured...just giving you a hard time, buddy.

It's actually the inner shoulder where the tear occured. Marcus (Mr. Heeltoe) explains it HERE in the "Do I Need a Camber Kit?" thread. I vaguely remember seeing a wonderful explaination of toe, camber, and caster (with illustations) some time ago, but couldn't find it.

like other people said...
they didn't adjust your toe properly....and yes, toe can wore out your tires more than camber...
