Thank you mother-in-law

She backed into my car and her trailer hitch went right into the front bumper. It's cracked so it's not repairable. She said she would get it fixed so it got my wondering. Can I fit an 07-08 type s bumper on there with any fitment issues? If I get the standard 04 bumper again I have to spend another day of cutting the new bumper reinstalling the accord fogs.

Damn that sucks. Sorry to see that. Not sure about the fitment issues you may or may not have.

Just went through the TL-S front bumper conversion myself, you'll have no fitment issues..

BUT in addition to the bumper, you'll need to buy the upper mesh grille, v-bar/cross bar (and hood grille trim garnish if you want the all smoked chrome S grille), "A" emblem, lower grilles/fog housings, and fog lights from an 07'-08' TL-S.

For the new fogs (since the 04-05 fog wiring won't reach down to the 07-08 fogs), I just bought an aftermarket HID kit and hooked it up to my stock 04' fog bulb plugs and routed the ballasts/ignitors down near the new fogs. Plug and play with no having to extend any wiring!

There is no fitment issues when putting the 08 bumper on. But a body shop can repair that bumper there is no need for a new one. And if u do stay with the 04-06 bumper u already have the grill pieces so most of ur hard work is already done just move them over and cut the back of the bumper out

I know, they are having me bring it to a shop Wednesday to see if it's repairable. I'm hoping it is so I dont have to do all the cutting and fitting again

If it were me, I'd get the 07-08 base bumper. You won't have to pay extra buy all new grille pieces and it'll flow better with the rest of your car since it's an 04 base. Plus the 07-08 base A-Spec lip looks much better than the Type-S lip. My opinion of course.

Look on the bright side, at least you didn't rear end anyone not paying attention. That's barely any damage compared to the other threads. I'd look at it as a good thing because now you can has a brand new bumper w/ new paint!!

Small update

Mother in law is bi#*%ing about the whole situation so I'm fixing it on my own. Ordered an 07 base bumper this morning and I'll find somewhere to get it painted when it comes in in 5-7 days. Called Acura for a rough quote and she told me that ssm is a tri coat paint job so they wanted $350 to paint it. I don't think so, so I'm going to look around

What is she complaining about? If she backed into it, then she should be paying for it. I'd be pissed.

lol backyard body shop patch up job FTL

I agree about the base bumper over the type S because the base aspec looks better in my opinion. All personal preference though.

That's why I ordered the base 07 bumper today :-)

Btw: am I going to have much trouble fitting those accord fogs into the 07 base bumper???

You should just get the OEM fogs if you're getting the OEM 07 bumper. Much better solution.

They are very different in shape and size from the Accord fogs.

You get get aftermarket DEPO ones for about 100/each I think. OEM are 200/each. But you'll need to get the housings from Acura. I think they're about 30 bucks/each side. It's what the fog actually bolts on to inside the bumper. hope that helps.

good going

would have done the same.

IIRC, SSM is NOT a three stage paint job.
WDP IS though.

Idk, that's what the lady at the local Acura place said. I'm sure I can find a decent paint job for around $200

Good for no backyard patch up shop. Even though you are doing it on your own, is she still going to pay you back for the parts?
