First off glad I finally decided to join up its been overdue considering how helpful this community is
Back around May 2019 my buddy bought a wrecked 07 type S on copart. 166MI. Car was then shipped from Maryland to South Florida, after further inspection he decided better off parting her out considering the mangled quarter panel and trunk pan.
After laying eyes on this poor TL I looked into the service history showing the car had just 1 owner since day one, and a recent water pump and valve adjustment done at Acura. This car was a virgin, great Interior, bone stock. I decided to shell out more than what buddy had into this purchase and she was mine! Been alongggg process over the last year, bodywork kept me busy for quite sometime. Found an 04 TL in a yard I was able to get the qt panel and rear body panel from. I was aware type S parts are hard to come by but I was in for quite the challenge sourcing a rear bumper. I was able to find one with broken tabs and prior bond work/cracks on it. once I had the car all prepped it was tine for paint.
If I could go back in time, probably would have decided on a factory color considering allot of OEM Aspec parts come in certain paint codes. Oh well the car was painted a Tri-stage Black pearl.
After the paint job bumper happened to fall off because no screw was ever put into the left side of the bumper Paint shop paid up for the damage.
Wish I had the support of this community from the get go of the build but still got ways to go! Long way coming to get to a non A-spec example with a messed bumper
Should have sourced the kit before the car rolled into the paint booth considering I resprayed to an Acdelco Tri-stage . Im pleased with the new color but a bummer every exterior part even simple as a driver keyhole delete will need a respray. Maybe should have stuck with a factory paint code. oh well
