Sharksbreath's Type-S Progress Thread (Updated 6/3/13)
here are a few pictures of my heads/tails that were done by JnC.
they got the following treatment:
HEADS
-CF inlays
-blacked out v2 paint
-quad angel eyes
-zkwr lenses
-led strip
-v2 switchbacks
TAILS
-CF inlay
-glossy black paint match
-tinted turn signal/red hue
*heads before*

*heads after*

*i haven't installed the switchbacks yet, or wired up the led's & angel eyes, but will do so in the next few weeks, and take some night shots. i'm installing 2 rocker switches, one for led's, one for angel eyes...so i can turn them on or off whenever i'd like. i'll be disabling the DRL's, and using the angel eyes in their place.*
*random shots*

*a friends NSX*

*first frost here in baltimore...wish i had a garage

Awesome lights Aaron! Time to wire them up
Was that NSX custom painted? I can't say I've seen that color before. The front bumper is a different shade than the rest of the car.
And garage ftw. You need to get a car cover or something along those lines.

garage is out of the question until i can purchase a house in the next few years. and the car cover...well that won't really protect me from frost/ice. i've been trying to get an OEM acura cover, but keep telling myself "what's the point?" it's still gonna be crazy cold outside so it's really not offering me any protection yanno? what do you think?
haha...i have to slow down for a little while. holidays and whatnot, gotta buy stuff for friends n family. tis the season, right?
made a deposit for the v3 pcds tho...lookin forward to those, but not lookin forward to the install. that looks intimidating to say the least. i'll have to do more research in the next few months while they're being released anyway.
anything next on your list?

other than maintenance, no.
I want to pay the car off first, before i sink any more money into mods.
another 2 more years, YES!
the front cat looks doable, but the back cat looks like a tight squeeze!

cya at the great falls meet, should be a good time. i pray for no snow...
id like to pay of the car as quickly as possible, then have free money later to mod as I wish.
Plus, I intend to keep the car for 10+ years. I think if I modded quickly, i'd get bored quickly.
But its def. fun to watch progress threads! keep up the good work, sir!
we all arent as ballin as you!

i guess this is my first somewhat nice car and i am anxious to improve it constantly. i plan on keeping the car for as long as i can as well, i don't think i'll ever get bored of it.
i had sent him those USR black/clear tails that were popular for about 5 minutes, and wanted him to dress them up. but when he tried to go to work on them, the fact that they were depo made them near impossible to crack open w/out breaking. so he had to ditch that idea, and luckilly he had a pair of base tails laying around to work on. so i wasn't sure what to expect when i got them back in my posession, but at this point i'm glad those USR's weren't able to be used.
thanks!
can't...stop...modding...
haha yeah mostly all those pictures are from the iphone, sadly...
the only ones taken with the nikon are those few on the previous page. i'll have to redeem myself here n get some quality shots, it's too damn cold outside right now. i loathe winter...what a pain in the ass.
(starting car each morning for work)
me : "hey TL, you warmed up yet?"
TL : "not even close"
me : :thumbsdow

which needle? which line? coolant or rpms?
thanks and will do. next will be the v3 pcds and aspec kit
getting everything wired up tomorrow afternoon! should have an update friday morning for you.
yes sir, you were one of the people who inspired me to get them.

yes sir, you were one of the people who inspired me to get them.
rub it in alex.

when are you doing the s/c and pcds?
*ok, last night i did the following.*
-drain n fill of psf res w/ amsoil synthetic fluid
-drain n fill of coolant res with honda type 2 coolant
-hooked up ddm HID fog light kit 5000k
-hooked up v2 switchback turn signals w/ resistors
-hooked up angel eyes
-hooked up led strip
*amsoil psf n turkey baster trick*

*honda type 2 coolant*

*v2 switchbacks from vleds w/ 6 ohm resistors*

*nice*

*resistor held in by double sided 3m tape*

*ddm tuning 5000k hid fogs*

*note to self...do not leave plastic protector on with hids on
*
*ballast for hids taped onto airbox...for now.*

*removed headlights*

*close up shot of angel eye wires, and led wires*

*posi-locks attached to leads*

*wrapped em up in electrical tape n attached to existing 16ga wire i had ran previousily into the dash steering column*

*crude drawing diagram of the wires path*

*used add-a-fuse connector to tap into slot#32 (power supply for lights)*

*removed dash under steering column and hooked all the wires up*

*had to remove this styrofoam piece from the dash part (placement for rocker switches)*

*drilled appropriate size holes, and installed rocker switches*

*both switches lit up*

*one*

*none*

with these rocker switches, i can put the angel eyes on by themselves, the leds on by themselves, or both or none. i've disabled my drl's, and using the angel eyes in their place. i'm pairing the led strip with my headlights on.
i don't have any good pictures of the lights right now, as i only had my iphone last night...but i'll take some tonight with the nikon. sorry for the tease...
^+1! I just got my switchbacks yesterday but didnt realize when turning them into the connector that I wouldnt feel that little pop. Soooo long story short I ended up snapping the led from the connector. Luckily vled's believed me little white lie about it happening during shipping so they sent me out a new one today. So pissed I was. LOL
I am not doing the PCD's and S/C until spring. Its a heat wave today at 31 out side but dropping back into the 10s and 20s by Thursday. Ill most likely post pics of the install when i do it.

*alright, not the best pictures bc my camera died
, so this is all i could get right now. i'm picking up more batteries when i get off work today**LED's*

^the crappy pics make them look like they're smooshed together, but in person they are all separate and it looks good
*angel eyes*

^again, crappy pics don't show the detail on these...i'll get some more pics soon.
*v2 switchbacks*
hey at least they sent you out a new one, that's pretty decent of them. when you're wiring the switchbacks up, the drivers side clip goes on the red/blue wire AND the black one. the passenger side goes into the black wire and the white wire. it took me a little while to figure out which wire to splice into, but those were the colors for my car. hth
Yeah it was a classy move by them. Thanks for the wiring assistance. I looked up a bunch of threads and nobody with a Tl-s noted which wire colors to connect them to so since we have the same car now I know
But the pics look great! Actually the leds looking smooshed together doesn't look bad either, kind of like the new Saab's. But yeah I can't wait to see them in person!

. The only thing different I'll do is probably wire them into the trunk like I saw on a couple DIY's just because I dont feel like taking the bumper off again. LOL

here's some more pics

halos look good but i think its overkill with the leds on the bottom
i would disconnect the leds if I were you because i think it looks too cheap cuz they are so small and xmas tree like
watd u get for halos orion V2 leds?
those look real good cuz they are thick and not the flimsy kind

The headlights and tails look great. Good job wiring them up, the switches are nice. I did the same install minus the led strip on another members car here. Keep it up.
Have you done the sidemaker mod already?
Have you done the sidemaker mod already?
thanks man
yeah buddy only a few weeks away! should be a good time
i use the halo's as my DRL's, and the led's with my headlights at night. i don't use them both at the same time, hence the rocker switches.
disconnect the led's?
nah i'm good, i think i'll leave them connected. i like the way they look paired with the headlights. i don't think they look cheap at all, in fact i've gotten more compliments out of them than the halo's.
yeah i got the halo's from umnitza, the v2 style. i just hope both these and the led's last a while. how long have yours lasted?
thanks, jp. wiring them up was fun, as i'd never tackled something like this before. i just made sure i read as much as i could, got the right supplies, and dedicated an afternoon to it. once i got going, it was pretty straight forward.
i haven't gotten the sidemarker mod yet, still trying to figure that one out. i'd like the sidemarkers to blink in sync with the front and rear turn signals. any suggestions? all i've seen are where they blink in between the turn signals, alternating in between yanno? or i'd have to lose my parking lights, which i don't want to do.
thanks, dave. the grill was very tedious but well worth it. i like the way it came out. no chips so far
thanks
probably won't have too much to update, waiting on richies v3 pcds and i'll probably jump on AckTL05's aspec kit group buy.
i'll see you locals at the great falls meet!
