So I'm relatively new here and I just got my TL-S back home literally a week ago.

It started out as a salvaged titled car in Denver that I bought from an auction back in February of this year. I didn't worry about it being salvaged because I have a family member with a shop down in Texas (from PA btw).

Here's the car sitting in the yard in Denver still:

Then it finally got to the shop in Houston where it spent its time up until a week ago, you can also see the progression of the body work:

I went down there May 8th and after a 27hr drive, we arrived around 12AM and I immediately ran to the beautiful car

This was its last day down there, gave her a good cleaning and we adjusted the ebrakes for the car:

This was my last meal before heading for the road (Whattaburger):

This was the last picture of her in Texas before we set off in the night for a 28hr drive. I was gonna learn how to drive a stick on the fly (sorry for the blurriness, was in a rush to go home):

I didn't take much pictures of the road trip cause it was mainly nighttime and the day parts weren't that much to see, except the part entering the view of the Appalachians:

And I finally made it home at 4AM where I welcomed her to her new home:

Do you mind if I ask you how much you paid for the car in total?

Paid for the car itself? $5400. With the work thus far, almost $10k

Damn good price but is insurance hard to get? I am assuming the car carries a rebuilt title?

Actually, having just been back literally this week, I haven't had to get that far yet, it's currently sitting at home til I get it all figured out. Because I know someone that's been through this process, they're telling me that it will be a rebuilt title after specific inspections but insurance wouldn't be hard to get, just the value is adjusted differently? If that makes sense. I still have to get it situated, but from what others have gone through, it hasn't been a hassle for them.

Oh, I apologize, I'm still new to this.

How does it ride? How many previous owners? Any leaks?

No leaks, one previous owner. The owner took really good care of this car because it was almost spotless on the inside. The engine itself was pretty clean as well and everything seemed maintenanced. While down there I did the timing and serpentine belt and cleaned out the buildup and she is riding super smooth, no vibrations. The only problem she has is with me as, like I said, I'm still learning to drive a stick.

That's awesome man. How exactly did you find the car?

Family has a garage in Texas and I was looking for a newer car, always wanted a TL-S so family had a connection at one of the auction sites and let us know what was up and so we bid and luckily won.

Thanks, I've had several people, including myself, try to find the areas where they had to redo the body and weld, and it's impossible. I think it was a fantastic job well done.

Thank you, hopefully she'll last me a long time.

I just got the HIC visors and rear roof spoiler and installed them, think it looks pretty nice:

A rub here, a tug there and you brought her back from near death. Totally worth it for a TypeS MT.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I've been lurking a lot of the threads so I have a general idea of what I wanna do. I'm thinking about repainting the calipers next.

Rockstar, I know your NBP had the satin lagoon color, can you share with me what other items were needed? It's my first time, I've read some caliper repaint threads and just want to be as thorough as possible.

I'm sure your car is going to be loyal to you now that you've brought it back from the dead.

Well, I had to get new floor mats because I used Lincoln MKZ ones and had to replace the navigation disc because the accident left the disc scratched up and so it wouldn't load the screen at all, locking the navi and radio when I replaced the battery.
Also got this new toy:

Yeah, kinda have to thank sockr1 and familyguy because I was browsing their threads and after researching a bit I kinda fell in love with raceseng. I know sockr got the slammer and he loves it, that was a consideration too but I like the design of the ashiko a little bit more plus it feels comfortable with my shift style. I didn't really believe the whole weighted shifter making a difference but it really does, I'm not as scared about my 3rd gear popping out as much anymore.

Woo hoo another raceseng shift knob in the TL community!! I still have to do my write up on it that I promised I would do.

People are understandably hesitant wth the price, but this heavy knob really makes a huge difference and I love mine more and more each week! That ashiko is such a beast!!

i highly recommend getting the shift boot retainer. It gives the knob and boot a seamless look, and makes it look oem (the boot will go straight up to the knob and won't make the knob look so top heavy)

The previous owner already had a boot retainer so that boot is actually held up already, plus I kinda like that silver piece between the knob, making it look taller than it actually is. But, I do agree with you, driving with it gives a whole new appreciation and I love it more by the day, except for when it's scalding hot

Brother, thank you for being a nice guy. Honestly, after your first text and following up when you said you would, I knew you'd be the guy I was selling to. A transaction for something you love is so much more than just an exchange of money...it goes to a good home, someone that'll appreciate and enjoy them, you kept your word, stretched your budget and I brought what would make me happy down a tad knowing it would be loved and appreciated. You're the kinda guy I like selling to...and trust me, even for the right money, if someone sucks, I'll politely tell them I'm not selling.

Bam...made a new friend and get to enjoy updates of his car from now on. Congrats and look forward to what you do with it!

Bro, if you weren't so fucking hard to ship to...you already know. My first set of wheels were not the offsets I wanted because I was too scared the first time around...but in the end, they still look fantastic...no worries there.

I never saw this:
Okay...basically if you're into satin lagoon...keep in mind...you'll need a high temp base, and a high temp clear...then whatever color you want in between...
strip off all loose clear, sand with 600 grit, clean it up, lay down an engine enamel silver until it's got a good base...then your color...then within an hour your decal, then your engine enamel clear. Works like a charm...
don't rush it.

Haha, I think my suspension will also be lowered in 24 hours... Plus 365 days.

Well, at least your car looks sexy now, and glad you got the electrical issues figured out
