LOL Steven, It was actually a pleasant surprise to find in the parking lot of the hotel that I stayed at.

I just figured a sexy beast like the R8 would be fitting to get the 24 hr fitness in the background.

I am by far no photographer but I seem to find some good opportunities for pictures. That's where it stops though. I don't have time to edit.

If I tried to edit pictures, I would never post any.

I try to keep the gun talk in the gun thread with other gun nuts like myself.

I am a little gassy today though

And if you hurry now I will sell you my car this weekend for 32k out the door. I will even buy your plane ticket to come pick it up.

If I paid you 32K, you better buy 2 tickets. 1 for me there, then 1 for you back home after tagging along to give me road head the entire trip down to Florida.

I think you have that backwards. You would have to give me road head the entire trip for being so generous as to sell you my car for such a discount.

Ok, got the rear A spec lip installed, I am waiting on caliper paint to come in that I had to wade through a few colors last minute, I ordered some new switchback lights. I bought them from V-leds again and if these don't perform right then they will never see another dime from me.

I will be re-doing a few things up front as well when the bumper is off over the next week or so. Hopefully that will bring a new flavor again.

Hopefully Wacker had an awesome vacation and can find some time to get my freshly painted side skirts packaged and shipped to me.

I also have a few other things up my sleeve. Plus I have some warranty work to get finished and still need a damn alignment.
However I was able to purchase a lifetime alignment for the TL through Firestone today over the phone for the "swoosh" discount.
Now to find a place with an in ground Hunter machine.

Which by the way Swoosh, thanks for the several things you have done for me. I really appreciate it.

Anyway, I hope to have some pictures up next week or the week after as I get a few of these things done.

Just glad I only have a short list of active hobbies. And well lets face it, my gun collection is already nicely gathered.

How did your rear aspec fitment end up? I installed my whole kit last week and that was my least favorite part. Did you use additional 3M Super Strength Molding tape?

I need to get myself some new switchbacks. Ordered twice from two separate ebay sellers and both times I was sent blinking 5k white and amber parking light switchbacks. So the opposite of what I was supposed to get. What caliper paint did you end up going with? That's one of the final mods that I have left to do on my car before I call it quits for awhile ($5,581 and 30 days later lol...). Your car looks great though, subbed!

Honestly, I wasn't extremely happy with the fitment but after a few days of not looking at it. It is not noticeable and looks good. The exhaust cut-outs being a little further out really tuck the RV6 tips. They stuck out a little from the bumper prior to Aspec kit.

I looked at the ebay switchbacks but read horror stories as well. I have a unique situation with my blinker lights so I really don't want to have to swap them very much.
I had to melt the holding tabs on my driver side light as my housings are from a base tl.
My passenger side accepted the 1157 bulb but the driver side did not so I had to rtv the bulb in place.

The caliper paint I went with G2. I ordered 2 sets as I didn't want to not have enough to do the brembo calipers, rear calipers and rdx covers. Plus I am going to use the left over to paint something else.
I am not going to disclose the color until its done.

I actually was going to go another color but it wasn't dark enough so I had a last minute change to get a brighter color that was still dark enough to not be a really bright color.

Thanks

Yeah, it's one of those things that only really ever going to be noticeable to us or another TL owner. You planning on taking the calipers off when you paint them or leaving them on?

Jeff...LED's are very fickle....I had a huge disappointment when the Autolumination ones arrived DEAD on 2 occasions and they expected me to pay for return shipping and them to ship it back to me....I said NEVER AGAIN and put my (not shitting you) 5 year old Amber LED indicators in there....I bought them from Superbrightleds....

every LED i have got from them is still functional....i bought all that back in 2007-2008....

?QUE?

I will be taking calipers off and sanding/painting.

I was hoping to have my SS brake lines before paint but that's not going to happen.

I will be buying a brake bleeder so I can flush out all my brake fluid and do a full fluid change when I go SS lines.

I wanted to do that before paint but I will just have to work around that issue.

Wait on it. You don't want to be messing with bleeding brake fluid on freshly painted anything.

Get the Mityvac7400 with the brake bleed attach. That thing works flawlessly.

Will look into that one.

I am pretty sure I can find a way to bleed brakes without making a mess though.

If nothing else putting vaseline on the parts that you don't want paint to adhere or other chemicals to break through works wonders.

It truly is the only good use for vaseline I have found yet. Because it damn sure doesn't work for anything else.

I got it as low as I can. Front is maxed out plus some. But I am about to fix the camber so it is staying where its at.

My mud flaps are not even salvalgeable after my last road trip. So I guess I am low enough for now.

Ok, they had the 2013 nav cd on sale for 99.00 right now so I bought one of those as well.

Hopefully that relieves some of my frustrations of road tripping. Being how 80% of my miles are f'ing off on the road to far away unkown places.

At least this way interstates will finally show up on my map and I don't have to buy another one for another 7 years

Good point about bleeding after painting. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. I am taking the calipers off too to paint them and will also be flushing my fluid and replacing with new Motul fluid. The Vaseline is a terrific idea.

Not really. I didn't disconnect my rear brake lines when I painted those.

You just have to mask the surrounding areas well. An old shower curtain works perfect for the hub and rotor and area. Tape off the piston (s) and brake line real good and watch the overspray areas and you can get just as good of a job as removing.

The G2 paint is applied with a brush so there is that much less worries about overspray.

When it goes time to changing brake line, just make sure you pull as much fluid from reservoir as possible and keep pulling fluid at each corner until all fluid is out.

If done right there should be no spillage. Again you can tape off any areas around the bleeder valve to limit exposure.

Measure twice, cut once mind frame.

I couldn't resist the temptation. It was screaming my name:

You won't regret that, Jeff. Plus, you're adding all the mods I want on the car for when I buy it so really...it's working out great for me.

Well, G2 with paint brush, you're right...no worries about that.

About the Mityvac7400...it's $100 WITH that attachment for bleeding. In a pinch you'd be able to suck the oil/tranny fluid out from dipstick...I've bled my clutch and brakes with it multiple times. ZERO mess...I just pour the stuff I suck out into a container and suck up some degreaser to keep the hoses clean. It works flawlessly and is similar to what you see in Anil's vids.

I literally give it a few pumps, hit the pressure release valve and stand at the master refilling it...go check every once in a while and see if fluid is clear or still dirty, then move on. It's awesome.

J.

Anil and I know about bleeding brakes. We went through a hell of a time with my Brembo's when we painted them and installed new pads.

Interesting. So Steven and Anil - I imagine you have a good story as far as how "not" to change brake fluid????

Yeah well the short shifter is on back order - to be in stock in next 1-2 weeks and the shift knob I selected is also on back order.

Which sucks because I will be putting some more miles on my car in a couple weeks.

I will be changing oil early this time at around 40% and also changing out the tranny fluid. The GM syncromesh that's in it is right at about 20k miles or less. So this should be be a good change.
