RonJon 20" Forged Devotion-1pF Monoblock wheels on a TL WDP.

Well, finally got around to getting the 20" x 8.5" Devotion-1pF wheels on a 3rd Gen TL. Your going to laugh, but I put 3 bags of salt in the trunk and 3 bags in front to get that drop on an otherwise stock TL, I also had to PS the front wheel onto the rear since I only had one 20" prototype mounted with a tire. The centercaps were also PSed in blank till we get our production caps in. But thats all, and it looks real good in person.

Wheels are 20" x 8.5" forged Monoblock one piece and will come in 40mm offset, no rubbing with 235/35/20 or 245/30/20. Wheels weigh in at 20 lbs and are 6+ lbs lighter than stock wheels.

We are taki8ng preorders on the wheels which are being made right now, ready in a month or two. Click the thread in my sig for more info:

Thanks, Those wheels in the pic above are raw metal protoypes, the real thing will look mirror polished liek the wheel below, and no rivets for a true one piece look, only 4 dummy rivets to offset the valve stem.

I'd sport a decal, if I could get hooked up on a front bumper. I like the wheels the more and more I see them.

That's a nice photoshop haha. If you go extremelly global and get even larger, and need a badass partner and I spent like 20 years building up RJ, I'd a fat tatoo

Wheels are looking great. If black could be worked out, I could get rid of my inspyres pretty quickly... Anyways looking good, and definently curious to see how the centercaps work. If you make a decal, I will sport it.

Sorry, but they won't, the lip is too big and the spokes won't clear the caliper. We do have a few customers who have decided to go with the 19" x 8.5" up front for caliper clearance and the 20" x 8.5" out back.

Rims look gud RonDog! Quick Question though, I want a staggered setup so is 8.5 the widest u make them or can they be wider in the back? Thanks.

I went to a wheel shop today and they told me wheels can't be powder coated because the powder coating is so solid (like glass) that it'll crack from the stress put on the wheels. This true?

They are idiots. I have had wheels powdercoated as well have many of the people I know. That's a sign to stay away from that particular company. Look at the pics in the What was your last ride or something like that. My subaru is sporting gold powdercoated wheels. I never had any problems with chipping or cracking whats-so-ever.

ARGH!! They were charging me $95 PER wheel to have them painted black... This is my stock 17s for winter. I guess I won't bring them my 19" Devotions when I receive them then... Anyone have any idea what powder coating (black) should cost for the 19" Devotions?

But that was for painting... I wonder what it would be for powder-coating. They don't powder coat, that's probably why they told me it couldn't be done.

Go online or in the phojne book online, and search for powder coating, go straight to the source so there is no mark up. powdercoating shouldn't be that expensive, since there is no primer, prepping involved, just masking which is fairly easy since we put the channel in ,and sporaying, then baking. I will search around here for you before they leave, but i can't promise anything.

Hey Ron is that an actual grill you designed on the Blacked out TL or just a photoshop job?
It doesn't look real, but it does look nice.

Ron,

That would be awesome if you could look around NY for a place. I'll look around here too. But I spoke to a reputable paint shop today that told me there are very little powder coating shops here because the demand in Canada is low due to winter.

Anyways, please let me know. I don't need the wheels until February anyway so no rush.

BTW: Is your TL grill going to be available soon? How much?

Rob

Can you give the secret to painting the grill? I also have a 05 NBP TL waiting for that exact look.

There is a prepping procedure with powdercoat. They have to dip the wheels in a bath that strips the old paint and etches the metal slightly so the powdercoating has something to bite to. When I got my 16" wheels powdercoated I think I had paid $65 a wheel back in 2000.
