Okay...so, I had a few mods done this weekend.

First off, thank you to Aaron/John Ebelp for the inspiration on a daily basis to live love and laugh. After installing the RDX calipers I realized I was NOT happy with them. They looked like a blank expanse of metal covering something with no purpose. I recently decided to join the "faker" crew and installed a set of 2 pot rear covers to match the fronts. If I didn't have the front Brembo I wouldn't want these, I'd just have RDX in black with the "Acura" on them.

In addition, I finally decided to start working on a set of red tails I bought from a member locally. Turns out one of the OEM reds was actually an "OEM" red. Eagle eye, actually. I confirmed first hand that these are NOT moddable. The bezel just will NOT come out...on one hand I felt disappointed, but on the other, it forced me to think outside the box and decided to try a different look.

Betty has deemed these the "Red Stripes!" I'm not done yet though, after reinstalling them I realize that it'll flow a lot better once the turn signal area is smoked too (wasn't possible with the eagle eye, but I'm replacing with oem this weekend thanks to Aaron).

Another thing, I was advised that Eagle Eyes affected light output on the 3G FB page...I thought it was BS but turns out the guy is right. I'm not sure if it's the actual red lens, or the led frosted diffuser but the leds are DEFINITELY less visible than on the oem one.

Last thing was an idea I'd been toying with for a while. I love how you can see the individual LED on the board with the frosted lens removed, but didn't like losing that extra light dispersion. So, I drilled out the lens. From directly behind you CAN see the individual LED but also creates a halo effect around the light to disperse it. I MIGHT try making the holes slightly bigger when I reopen to do the turn signal smoking, so stay turned. I had the intention of modding these to sell to pay for something else...but I am in love with how they look on NBP. In which case, I may pick up another set to be made to sell.

also blacked out the inside of the led board housing...

J.

Go easy on me, still learning using Lightroom although this is the first batch that's pretty much all LR.

All white errrrthangggg

Bright enough?

and here are the red stripes (minus the signal area):

here is the old NO frosted lens

here is the new drilled frosted diffuser, picture doesn't do it justice, it doesn't look like I hot glued little cheerios in there in real life.

Comparo

LOVE it...subtle but another option for those looking for a modified oem look.

Caliper Covers...MUCH better than the RDX, to me.

That profile shot...I love this one

Very nice, J! You're a damn innovator.

I do however, like the unfrosted look more than the drilled.

Also, the 2-pot Brembos do look better than the RDX on your car

You're doing well in LR! I like the night shots a lot, however, it appears, your pictures have a blue tint to them, it could be my eyes though, blue sky, paint reflecting that, ect, but it looks like you're changing the white balance or adding a blue tint.

If I'm wrong, speak up!

Awesome update J! I agree, the rear Brembo covers look better than the RDX covers.

Yea. Because my sexual orientation coincides with J's rear caliper covers.

Personally, if hell froze over and I put fakes on, I would have just centered the brembo logo on the two pots.

But this def looks nice as is.

New pics look great! I think the tails will look sick when you smoke the turn signals.

Hey guys...thanks!
Yeah, Austin...I might have played with the blue in some of them, but mostly I didn't.

Chad, I know man...I'm eating my words, yet again. I said I didn't want to fake it till I made it. Turns out I lied.

Aaron, thanks again, man...can't wait to finish the job this weekend. Adam, thanks man...I'm looking forward to it too. On NBP they're going to look amazing...it'll look like a floating bezel on the car without that light pink anodized look of the base 07 tails.

Austin, I'm going to make the holes bigger when I redo them...I bet they'll look even nicer than the removed frosted lens.

About the meet...I had picked 9/29 tentatively. Alex, the guy on FB with the air and wrapped car (although I think he scrapped the idea) didn't really confirm if that day works but he's trying to make the meet at his shop....which is like 40 miles South of ME, even. Probably too far for most of you WPB guys. I'm thinking we'll do The hill top again? Vista View?!! I think I've gotten some of the coolest shots up there.

Yeah, 40 miles on top of the usual, no thanks.

The hill works for me, I had fun there, but this time I'd like to drive around that park for some more photo opportunities.

If that guy can't make it, I'm down for the meet to be sooner.

Feji, I have considered it...but they are effing pricey! Honestly, the main reason I keep and love the USR switchback sidemarkers are for this purpose...the safety of people seeing that I'm signalling from the side of my car. If I found a set cheap, I'd consider it but then that's ANOTHER light I have to consider modding to switch back, or leave amber, or make white...bah!

Chad, looking forward to it, man.

Kurt, you really just made me blush. Thank you!
Yeah, I agree, aside from it adding the watermark, I do love making slight changes to the pictures. Most images could use a SLIGHT tweak here and there anyway!

Haha, that could explain the use of TL pics. If they are good quality, and the fit looks right for up front and for the small 2 pots in back, then I will go ahead and place an order.

Love the update, and the red tails look amazing.

Keep playing with Lightroom buddy.

All my photos really come out through post-processing. My photography done WHILE shooting is just meh. What I can do AFTER shooting I'm pretty happy with.

Why yes, sir! Those are them! Yeah, him and I wrote back and forth a few times...he accepted like $4 for a set, which I thought was fair and it included enough for 1 fk up, which I inevitably always have. None of mine are PERFECTLY centered, but you'll drive yourself crazy trying to find center since it's deceiving. I sent him a couple of high res images to help him sell them. He told me him and Aaron were best friends all through elementary school...until Aaron stole his girlfriend.

I have to disagree slightly here. The ones you use are bigger, from what I recall...also, I bought some from another vendor when I first did the silver calipers...well, now that I was swapping from black to white lettering, I was hoping I'd get away with just peeling the letters, putting new ones back on and clearing, but there was a slight difference in letter placement and even the font was slightly different. Overall, I'm MUCH happier with these than the previous ones. They look great and are the perfect size.

Okay guys...I will admit this. I almost gave up on installing these. There are very few contact points to use the rtv clear silicone. I decided to hack up my RDX covers to glue these to those and then re-glue the rdx back on BUT, then the cover sat out way too far from the rotor AND I couldn't get my self tapping screws to even make a dent in my caliper metal to screw down. In the end, I use just rtv, on top 2 points that touch, and a BUNCH on the side to hold onto that bar on the caliper. When it was all dry, it's holding very well now...let it set for a day before driving and it's fine now. Hoping for the best.
The RTV that I used on the RDX covers, let's just say I had to put some muscle into it to get them off...they were really on there.

On the plus side, these smaller covers do NOT glue onto the top portion that holds the pad slides, so technically, for pad changes etc, you don't have to ever touch the covers again. Gluing them on was annoying enough to me too, that if I ever swap colors, I'll do them ON the car.

Thanks, blood!
I agree, less than a year ago I was like, fk this and fk that, I ain't putting no covers on. Then I tried RDX but without the Acura on it, looked stupid. Looked like a bare piece of metal I jbwelded to my caliper to make it look like a stupid piece of metal i jb welded to my caliper. Please note, if I DIDN'T have real brembo up front, I'd be RDX front/rear in black untouched all day long.

Why thank you, Will! Stay tuned, thanks to Aaron, I'll be getting my tails done this weekend and you'll see the end result of the "red stripe" look. Fk you Eagle EYES! I'm glad I didn't end up working out getting that set. They look/fit just fine...but if you're using them to cut open and mod. You're NOT.

Hey, don't forget, we've got to work on mine this Sunday.
When exactly does Ani's indentured service end? I mean, he's GOT to have his green card by now, no?!?

Keep playing with Lightroom buddy.

All my photos really come out through post-processing. My photography done WHILE shooting is just meh. What I can do AFTER shooting I'm pretty happy with.
Thanh you, Thank. You're the man, and an inspiration yourself...it makes me feel better to know that you tweak yours for them to look so effing amazing. I've noticed things are becoming more second nature in playing with it so I look forward to getting even better.

Oh, and who was that girl in your avatar. You refused to ever tell me. But I never forgot.

Thanh, your composition and exposures seem to be on point, to me, that counts the most. It's entirely possible to get a truly stunning picture straight out of the camera, but PP helps take okay or good pictures that extra mile, with colors, contrast, ect.

Now that you've said something though, I'm interested in a before and after.
