rockstar143's '04 NBP progress thread (part deux continues after 6 year hiatus)
Two weeks ago I drove the "Troung TL" to seattle to see him and buy some parts. Car died a few miles from his place. Tow home on a Sunday was $900! The Troung TL is costing as much as a 6MT Type-S at this point. Still a nice ride, though its going to be my dedicated track car due to it being a beater.
Nah, clutch was in the right way. One of the 17mm clutch bolts wasnt tightened and backed out against the flywheel. That what happens when your forced to work over night due to buddies time constraints. It was fine though, he got it tightened.

absolutely, man...kids make the world go round! TL is something special. Every time I have been between owning one I can't wait to get another.

Thanks man...that's actually my old one.
I would have a LOT more money in the bank if I had just kept that!

If you ever plan to install Hondata, ensure the pins on the2 pin CAN cable is the right way round.
I havent considered AAA, though it was a 142 mile tow! Ill have AAA soon so that doesnt happen again

Your TL looks better than my black car! Those Red stripe tails!

The Acura TL Troung sold me. Just happened that the main fuse box failed. May have bee due to the two recalls for the 2005, could have been when I messed up the dashboard electrical loom retrofitting Hondata and at some point something shorted(a). Spent $1000 for a new loom and $23 for a 2004 used fuse box from Pick n pull. Problem solved

Electrical stuff on the TL I would say is probably self induced...I remember when I almost burned my TL to the ground with the wiring from the DRL module

Anyway, glad you got it sorted out. I'm after some non-Greta approved PCD but seem to be hard to find new OR used.
I haven't even considered any sort of tuning etc...don't think I will. I'll KISS.
@Yumcha super fast, bro...it's crazy. Forgot to respond in 3GR...but things are good, man. No complaints.
Life seems to be happening very fast but I was built for speed so it doesn't phase me too much.

fun fact...red stripes and super reds were made and named by yours truly and my ex wife in my old townhouse...
nobody was using them for anything at the time so I could buy them pretty cheap on ebay.

Oh man, that must have sucked big time. I can't believe the loom was a grand.

unless they are tsudo it's weird that that's the ONLY place taking pre-orders with no further info.
Yeah it was an EPA mandate to not have any catless stuff anymore...

It was alot from the pocket, but gladly a loom is available to replace it with!
That's really weird, they were listed in December. Must have taken place on January 1st. Wonder if there are any new PCD still floating around on the black market?

Amazing smooth look on those tails! Thanks for the tutorial
Very clean and OEM + look. I wish my NBP paint was in as good condition as yours lol
side note, what size and offset did you on the wheels with the NTO3M's? I'm in between a set of RPF1's and those right now. Love the look of both and the price point.

@subydude camera trickery! the clear was fucked on that thing...sold it back to my buddy that I bought it from and it lives on as his daily driver
size of the wheels I THINK was 18x9.5 +29 IIRC

haha, man. That camera trickery is good work then. The paint looks great in those photos! Also thanks for the info on wheels! I going to order the NTO3's - just need to get my brembos repainted to look good haha. I saw the tutorial on the ACH garage youtube channel, solid tips btw.
