Hey Steven, well, yesterday, Auztinz got here at 930am, and without much fukin around time, it took us till about 6pm including the washing of the cars and the photo shoot. Long but not really. He's gotten better at modding, but I'm still enough of a control freak to not want to have to redo things so I take over.
Anyway, went to bed last night itching to tackle some change...my headlights...so of course, at 6am I was wide awake and chomping at the bit to get started. So I did...
Opened them up again, and removed all the excess butyl tape that I'd jammed in there, I now realize that that caused the light to not close all the way and the excess squeezed out to where you could see it around the outer edge. In addition, I didn't like that the blue didn't match the teal...and the cf wrap around the orange reflectors had come off on the inside edge. Time to tackle all that stuff...
So, cleaned up the excess butyl...bitch of a job since it sticks to everything.
the chrome strips were chipping, so painted them plastidip black
I was tired of the CF wrap on the orange diffusers so painted them plastidip and then gunmetal and then cleared over...they look awesome. I like that they don't mask how long the light is like the black and cf wrap did.
I polished the inside lens by hand, and waxed it to protect.
Once everything dried I put it all back together, and wetsanded 1000/2000 grit, m105 orange and then m205 white the outside, wiped down the lense with IPA. Then tried something I'd read on multiple sites for UV protection...
1/2 Mineral Sprits and 1/2 Spar Gloss coat...stirred up and applied with a blue shop paper towel. I did 1 coat, and it kinda pooled in some areas...I waited 10 minutes and then applied and pulled another coat across...and eventually a 3rd coat. They look awesome...and from what I've read, 1 coat gives you 2 years of no yellowing...we shall see. The best part is it dries flat so no orange peel to knock down later.
Wow, that dash has gotten bad in the last 1.5 years...I'll give you guys a heads up (as members before me have) once it's all taken care of. Just want to ensure it all goes through.
and here is the after effect, went and took some quick proper pictures
I'm proud, she looks pretty good for an old girl.
Spoiler back on, btw...yesterday with Austin, I felt very generic without it. I'm rockin it proudly until a final solution happens, either roof or new trunk spoiler. Till then, don't feel like driving around with my trunk covered in vinyl plugs.

So jealous that you get to wear shorts and flip flops in February.
Sounds like a busy weekend! Loved the blue in the headlights before, but the matching teal goes with the rest of the car much better. Spoiler looks beautiful
You ever consider doing a projector setup in the fogs?
