Where is your side mount grounded to in your car...since we have the same motor mounts?
I also already decided not to return flashpro...I'm giving it another shot...the car feels like a sluggish pig in comparison now...especially with heatsoak...and the rev bump is back. Been emailing with Dom.

i moved my side motor mount ground up to a bolt off near the IM, i remember seeing a few people on here that did the Big 3 recommended that for aftermarket motor mounts. i'll see if i can find the link tonight.
EDIT: check out the 4th pic here:
https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...pgrade-867585/
Get all that wire out of your car and go OEM. I've always been skeptical of aftermarket grounding systems. Yes they can improve the ground in theory, but they can also change/introduce new paths to ground not accounted for in the OEM design, and if the OEM points are compromised or poor connection weird things can happen. Also check your alternator and its connectors make sure all is well. After this I'd give hondata another go.
you should never use speaker wire for ground.
you should never use speaker wire for ground.
i did "upgrade" my battery negative to chassis and side motor mount to chassis with a beefier ground (i think it was a lawnmower ground or something) that was recommended here on the forum...should i not use that? it seemed much more robust than the rusted, falling apart cables that were there.
EDIT: check out post 26 of the link i posted, that's the new battery to chassis cable i used instead of oem.
you guys are making me paranoid (again haha), i'm going to go home and check all the big 3 stuff i did about 6 months ago...

J, photos sent, I used a bolt just under the belt, above the side mount engine side. Other side same OEM point on the body.
Sounds like you're ok. What I meant was regular speaker wire. There are good ground wires and connectors out there and some better than OEM, but you need to know what you're doing to avoid issues down the road. Wire gage, insulation, temperature rating, voltage/current ratings should be adequate for the application, that's all.
My moms house had a weird thing with the power one time. We found out later that whoever wired the fuse box ran out of wire and used speaker wire for some connection. It eventually burned and failed. My own house had weird electrical gremlins when we moved in. Power company finally found the problem - power and ground connectors used over 10 years ago were wrong material, which corroded leading to poor connection. We had weird flickering issues and voltage dips so bad it turned the tv off on two different occasions, and burned my comcast cable, melted it in my attic and its ground connection wire which is hooked up to a pipe arc'd.
why would a high quality amp grounding cable (4ga or higher) not be good for running in addition to your oem cables? I don't see any issues if the ground is of good quality.

Ivo, thank you again.
Guys, I'm back...after 4 days driving the car, un-tuned...I realized that now that I have a experienced the lack of heat soak, the power down low...the smoothness, the lack of rev bump...
I slept on it and decided to re-tune the new ECU. The more I thought about what everyone said and went through the warning signs (hard to start car...low voltage flashpro warning)...the more I realized that I couldn't blame the tune.
So happy again...
loaded map6 from Dom...and I'll datalog tomorrow...should be able to get it all tidied up by 10th map. I already reversed the refund he offered me (kindly...). Let's do this.
Still have a new A.C. compressor coming, and alternator, and starter. Car should be solid AF when I'm done. Yes it's costing a few bucks...but it's worth it, in the end...the car is a gem and drives like a beast.

I'm glad it's all working out man. The question is why would someone do that? To make the bay look nice? I just don't get it. Plus he's wasn't a noob and had Andy around. Hell how did Andy not see that I thought he looked the car over when you were up here?

Honestly, even I didn't "know" that they might be a problem...I guess it's one of those things where you only know for sure it's an issue once it's an issue.
What I would guess is that the oem grounds were deteriorated from the Winters up North...and these were purchased as an upgrade to them. Either way, I'm just grateful it was something relatively simple.
I'll likely be listing my old ECU in the BM soon once I'm confident all is well. The fact that I could reflash it to OEM and then unlock it from vehicle tells me it is fine.

A ground is a ground is a ground. Until it isn't.
It would be easy to overlook that as a negative feature, because what can go wrong with a piece of wire?

I always submitted a ~20min log with plenty of partial and wot, and vtec in as many gears as possible. Not much in 6th gear though it's useless below 100mph and 1st gear was tough too cuz it just spins the tires.
What alternator, a/c compressor and starter are you using now until new ones come in?
Sockr1 make sure if using stranded wire that each strand meets minimum gage for this car's ground. I don't know what the gage is just compare to OEM.

Right now I have no AC...I have the original starter and alternator. They are still working, just every once in a while (once a day?) I turn the key and the car doesn't do anything...then I do it again and it fires up strong. So I want to be sure I'm dealing with all new parts.

You guys throwing aftermarket 'oe' parts on the car... tisk tsk.

What do you mean?
starter is oem honda...
alternator and compressor are delco and denso...
it says on the order they are the oem manufacturer!
Okay boys...
well, after Saturday, the car wouldn't do anything when turning the key, once a day. My positive battery terminal was as tight as it could be, but I could move it by hand. Well...over the last few days, it got to the point where the car was not starting almost every first try...figured maybe the it's the starter but the starter is not normally such a gradual degradation and it started super hard when it does.
After some convo with Chad...I realized that the positive terminal may be a bigger problem than I thought...
so off to pep boys I went...a month ago I went and they just charged the battery...this time I went in guns a blazin and the manager swapped it for me, for a prorated amount. Either way...I'm starting with a new battery at least.
see the gap
she was nearing 3 years already
see how the post has been whittled down?
well...in putting the new one in...I managed to ground out the allen wrench...fireworks...forgot it was hot...burned my hand. Good times.
Tight fit
lastly...while I was in there...I figured I'd buy some legit battery cable wire...rigid thick strand....a bit too long...but it made me happy to get rid of the last of the shitty speaker wire ground.
there it is
sanded body the other day
So far...after work, I turned off and on the car 5 times...and only once did it start, first try. After my little burn session this evening...started first try all 3 times I attempted.

Kali? She's fantastic. It was Ramblings...the end all be all learn about life thread.
Thanks, man...
Any plans to tackle anything this weekend?
I'm gonna sit tight. If I want my marriage to last, I need to chill with the car talk and modding/repair for a little while.

yes that one, very cute pup!
Nothing much planned man, just chilling with the gf, making sure she's all taken care of
On a car note, I washed my TL at my buddys house last week, and noticed a TON of water spots! I came to realize he's on well water and not city water so he's got "hard water" which leaves minerals behind and etches into the paint. So I'm going to have to give it a real good wash and polish here in the coming days

Remember, if the battery post and terminal clamp are a little loose, you can add a couple wraps of teflon tape to make it clamp tighter. Just like how you fix a leak on a slightly loose shower head.

Oh so 'sit tight' means just one or two projects a day right???

Teflon tape is for plumbing... Electrical tape is for electrical purposes

Y'all some suckas...
yeah, new pictures today, loaded and logged 2 tunes...next up, map10...Dom says the car is running VERY differently with the new ECU, grounds and battery. Running rich now instead of lean.
Also, just realized one of my license bulbs is out, the bass amplifier turned off at some point today, and my driver side low beam is still flickering.
It never fucking ends, I swear.

You say but I think you secretly for OCD fiddly bits to fix.
Also, grounds... how do they work? ICP.jpg
Amazing what happens when all the electrons get to where they're supposed to go.

How does the car feel from your point of view with the new ecu? That's how mine was running according to Dom, slightly rich.
And take a family day off dude family comes first. Take the wife and baby out for a stroll. Two words: butterfly museum. Works every time.

ROFL about the battery terminal post. I told you...these cars must be hella picky about power. And when you're like us and modding all the time, messing with the terminals, they wear down...

Tap on the license plate light first. Mine goes out every now and then too and comes right back with a little tap. Closing the trunk sometimes knocks the bulbs around.

Thanks Ryan...
and Hello Steven.
Well...I now know what everyone is talking about...once you've been tuned, it's hard to drive the car without it. It's a totally different experience driving a happy engine tuned properly. You won't regret it.
J.
Also had some time to clean the interiors of both my honduhs...humbebrag and all
Got a chance to put these in...can't believe I never knew about them. I how they complete the clean look. Thanks again Chad!
