Progressive Thread: My 1st attempt at Actual Mini Photoshoot (w/iPhone 4)

Hey guys, like the title says, I finally got my courage up to black out my headlights. I'm not really good with car stuff, but thanks to all the great diy's on this site it gave me the confidence to try. I just took a few pics when I finished close to night fall but will add some daylight pics of it tomorrow. While I was at it I thru in some 8K diamond blue HID lights as well, I'm using my iphone to take pics so I didn't post any pics of the HID lights because it didn't come out well.

Damn, now that's blacked out!

You even blacked out the projector shroud heheh.

If I'm seeing correctly, there seems to be no diffuser and just everything painted black.

Any tips for me?

I still need to find balls to do this - I have my paint ready, my Nissan Butyl ready, and my Type-S diffusers ready. I need my balls ready lol

Blacked out headlights + blacked out middle grill bar = winning.

Just how I want my car (as depicted in my photoshopped avatar lol).

Nice, have all my equipment as well but just not brave enough. I remember reading where if it is the first time the lights are being opened you should re use the OEM rubber to seal it. OP, what all did you do?

Thanks alot.........I used black silicone gasket sealer to seal them up

Hey, a friend of mine gave them to me for free so I wanted to try them out and see how they are, if I don't like, it's only 30 minutes of my time to take them back out, win win situation for me.

Thanks alot guys!!!! I removed the amber diffusers and then painted all the chrome pieces (except center trim) black.

going to put some superbright white bulbs in there, wish I did that the first time I opened them up, now I'm going to have to open them up all over again, lol, want to get the switchbacks but I know for a fact I wouldn't be able to put the load resistors in myself, lol

you just need ttaps...and a resistor that has wires coming from both sides...then you just crimp it from the positive to the negative. And you don't need to reopen your lights to change your parking bulb! You can actually cut the wheel to the side and pull back the fender liner and reach in very easily.

Thank alot Rockstar, I'm going to try and look into the ttaps (don't know what they are) and see if I can find a good DIY for the resistors, I definitely need to do it anyway because one of my parking lights is blown, but the turn signal works, go figure, lol.

it's because those bulbs have 2 filaments...one lights up with parking, one with signal!

not a problem...

You can handle doing it, Maf...it's not that difficult. Just take your time...wear gloves...etc. Easy...190 degrees for 9 minutes was enough for me to pry mine open

Nice , I can say I was ready to crack open my headlights and do this but I ended up getting a pair off another member before I found the time to be able to do mine. I definitely recommend the switchbacks (and also white led front sidemarkers). It completes the look and definitely turns heads when your driving at night.

My only suggestion would have been not to paint the inside of the turn signal reflector. I did this the first time as well and the light out put was horrible, I also had the LED switchback and it's a bitch to see during the day, almost got into a few accidents because the oncoming car couldn't see me signal. Looks good otherwise.

this was the exact same thing i was thinking.

to the OP be careful. your turn signal reflectors located on the corners of your headlights are now painted black. originally they were chrome, and could reflect light from your turn signal bulb so it can be seen during the day.

you took the chrome piece and painted it black, so it will reflective very little to no light, so during the day other people will have a hard time seeing your turn signal.

Switchbacks are turn signal bulbs that come in two types.

One type lights up white all the time, and flash between white and amber when you signal.
I forgot the other type lol

Putting in the foglights in a week or so, gonna put sum leds in place of the oem turn signals, possibly painting the roof black (still contemplating this one). I just tinted the front windshield today, don't know if you can tell in the pics, but I tinted at 50%

D-Dawgg, damn good lookin' !!!!!

Hell, I don't care if they are caliper covers-those are excellent looking. Please remind me of what you did and where to get those.

By the way, I ordered red lug nuts for my Type S. The red lugs should be in this week. I might consider doing the caliper covers too.

Congrats again!

Thanks alot Steve......I'm very interested to see how the red lug nuts will look.....as for the caliper covers, got them from ebay, the seller's id is 360performanceplus. The rear covers fit perfectly but the front covers need a little modification, not much though
