I am quite sure, it was duplicolor, I will check again though.

I had the A-spec gunmetal shiny finish, however I was not going for that. It would have stayed that way if I didnt apply clear coat. The clear coat dulled it but made the paint settle real nice.

The contrast actually looks good, maybe doesnt show in the picture. Otherwise it gives it a pure race look, I was not aiming for that.

What color other than black would you suggest for caps?

You can paint the caps the same color and have the logo in a silver color to stand out.

Ya, I was going to get powdercoating, the guy was being a dick though, complaining how its busy now and I should have come in winter...but anyways.

So while I had my winters on, took the rims with tires (no dismount).

1. Sanded the tires by hand evenly.

2. Used bondo to fill up a gashes.

3. Covered the rim circumference with small cards, taped the inside of the wheel, as you may notice the wheel is not painted on the inside.

4. Sprayed Primer(grey), then ground coat(silverish gray) then paint coat (gunmetal) and then clear.

Btw. You can easily control the density of colour by the amount of coats applied.

I could have had a total glossy look if I wanted.

I am thinking about painting mine either your color or gun metal black. Did you paint them yourself or did you take it to a shop? What are the cost? I would very much like to know. Thanks

Or spray them with a translucent smoke paint so the logo will still show through.

well. if you want to paint them, maybe red to match the calipers...

definitely not black though. If the entire thing is black it will have a spare tire look...

Btw that definitely looks like a quality professional paint job. good job

I was thinking about that exactly, my friends discouraged me. I might do that though.

Thanks. Took my time doing it, I was nervous about how it would turn out, but it can easily be controlled by the amount of coats you apply.

I think the black on black makes them look smaller than 17 inches. You did a good job but maybe more clear coat (wheels shine) might make it "POP" a little more. If i were to paint my wheels (the same color or close to my cars color) i would want them to be as shiny as the car. Just my

Yeah, I agree with the clear coat response. ^^ I'm not too sure what the longterm results will yield with the duplicolor paint. I've used it on my front emblem and it chipped pretty easily. I hope it holds up for you.

I know what you mean exactly.
I had to clearcoat them though, to protect the paint, under the impression that clear coat will make it shinier. It settled the paint real good but they got duller.
Before I put the clear coat they were looking quite shiny. Maybe I will try another clear coat brand. Lets see how these hold up for now.

I just hated the stock look and I dont want to invest in new rims and rubber.

Looks nice and professional...even is it does make them look a little smaller. The drop cures everything. Good job I say don't paint the caps red...if any red painthe caps the same color and just the acura logo red( kinda like type R wheels) but i think you should just paint them to match the wheels. Looks like you have some nice tires on there too.

I agree. If you do decide to paint the caps, though, I like the idea of them matching the wheels, but make the logo silver.

Nice, I had the same thing on my previous car, and the paint held up pretty well. Lasted about 3 years, but there are a few paint/rock chips on the wheels.

I didn't call it a Ford- I said it looks like one. To me - the monotone look doesn't cut it. I thought about black wheels on a NBP, but you're picture showed me it's just too much.

The #1 theory is if YOU like it, it doesn't matter what other people think. It's always their opinion.
