Painted Brembos in HKS livery

Was rebuilding some Brembos and thought it'd be cool to paint them in HKS livery using decals to mask. Didn't have issues with runs really, I really lightly sprayed because I was concerned the vinyl would get too saturated, worked out well!

Materials
-VHT High Temp Engine Primer - 3 medium coats
-Duplicolor High Temp Engine Purple (VHT doesnt make purple for some reason) - 3 light coats
-VHT High Temp Engine Ford Green Paint - 3 light coats
-VHT High Temp Engine Matte Black Paint - 3 light coats
-VHT High Temp Clear - 3 light coats, 1 heavy coat

When I got the calipers

Cleaned off all the brake dust, scrubbed and disassembled

Stripped down with aircraft stripper - this took days..OEM finish is tough, the blue spray paint came off easier

Aircraft stripper took it down to factory primer

Waited a few days, wiped down with alcohol and light sanding, taped up caliper bolt holes, brake pad pin, and piston seals.

Shot primer over, 3 medium coats, bleeder isnt taped off because I have new ones

Got vinyl die cuts I traced of the HKS livery

Next day, Sprayed Duplicolor high temp engine purple and waited a day before applying first batch of decals to mask the purple

Next day, Sprayed the VHT high temp engine Ford green and waited a day before applying decals with heat gun to bend around curves

Next day Sprayed VHT high temp matte black over everything

Peeled off all the decals to see how it looked

Wiped down with alcohol again, and applied brembo decal and red pin stripe to finish livery. Then sprayed clear coat. I was going to bake it to cure the paint but oven wasnt working

All done! Hardest part was just cleaning and stripping the caliper. Everything else just took patience and waiting for everything to dry. Love em!

Replacing the dust, pressure seals in the pistons, bleeders and new brake lines.

looks great! how do you paint the calipers when they are off the car, did you hang them from wire through their threaded holes from like a tree or something?
or do you paint one side at a time and flip when dry enough?

Most guys hang a wire through the holes where the pad pins slide through and spray them dangling. Since i was changing out the brake line anyways, I just hung them from the brake hard line. In retrospect, may have been bad idea putting all the weight on that hard line, but I wasnt reusing it anyways..

You could use the caliper threaded hole but would have to mask off that area. Paint on threads is no bueno!

Yea, someone said painting is 90% prep, 10% paint. Painting takes 20mins, prep takes hours lol.
