New Member - '99 Cobra to '04 TL
I traded in my 99 Cobra last week for the TL. I had the car for over fours years and I was getting tired of it. The car was modded so much that it was a pain to drive daily. I wanted something more comfortable that didn't draw attention that the Cobra got. Here are pics of my old car. If anyone is interested in mods let me know.
I have been wanting a TL for a few months now and I've been looking at this site to get ideas. I fell in love with WDP and knew I wouldn't be happy unless I got this color. I tossed around the idea of selling the Cobra, but never really got around to it. I was searching autotrader last week and came across an 04 WDP w/ navi from a dealer with only 54k miles. This deal was too good to pass up and it was only two and a half hours away. I knew I would have to act fast so I decided to just trade in the Cobra. They gave me a pretty good amount for the car. Here's a pic the day I got it.
I got up this morning to wax the car and decided to debadge the rear, it really cleaned up the rear end. I decided to go out this afternoon and get some real pics of the car.
So far I love the TL. It's in a whole new class compared to the Cobra and I don't even miss it. My future mods will be new license plate, tint, base Aspec front and sides, Type S Aspec rear, Type S exhaust, Type S wheels, black vinyl roof, and maybe a minor drop.

Thanks guys!
Haha I know... I have no intentions to do performance mods to this car, that's not the direction I want to go. I had all the basic performance mods on the Cobra and it was still slower than all the new cars coming out. I just want a nice looking car that gets me from point A to B and not have all these people trying to race me every stop light.
The Cobra was def a clean car. It was in two different calendars and my 94 firebird I had before was also in a calendar. I'm all for keeping my cars simple and clean.

Very impressed with your Cobra. Very tastefully modded. Bet you were sad to see it go.
Congrats on the new ride. I like your preference for mods and look forward to seeing what you do with your TL. Photo skills aren't too shabby either.

Sounds just like my story, but I had a 95 GT. Mine was lowered on FRPP springs and sat on 18x9 FR 500s so I know what you mean when you say you had an uncomfortable ride. I had a Flowmaster American Thunder catback and a Mac offroad h-pipe. Shit was loud and the drone on the highway was terrible. The TL is a solid progressive jump from a Mustang. The power is there, creature comforts are much better and it is sporty without every Tom, Dick and Harry wanting to race.
Here is my old ride:

I think I remember seeing those pics over at SVTP...you a member over there?? Still a member over there but I sold my '01 Cobra about 5 years ago. Had full MM suspension, fully bolt on, supercharged for a small portion when I had it, full exhaust, '00 Cobra R 18's, etc etc. Loved that car but gas and reliability got to me. You'll love the TL. It's a great car. The tranny and dashboards are the 2 most common problems you'll likely recognize so replace those 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches and take car of that dash vinyl and you're good to go!

The Cobra was not practical as a DD. There are many reasons why I wanted to move on... 14 mpg, waking up the neighbors every morning, people thinking you're racing at every light b/c the exhaust is so loud, driving 65 in a 70 b/c the exhaust is too loud at a higher cruising rpm, having to aviod driving certain places in town b/c it will scrape, people asking you to do a burnout at traffic lights, always wanting to keep it spotless b/c it's such a clean car, etc...
If I had the money and space for a weekend car, I would have thought about keeping it. Truth is the 99/01 Cobra won't ever be fast unless you dump some serious money into them. After I rode in a 600 hp 04 Cobra, I knew I would never be happy unless I had that much power.

I've been doing to shopping and collecting parts. I'll start a new thread after I get everything installed. I'll be ordering the A-Spec lip kit after I get my tax return back and I need to get some tires. Here is a teaser of what's in store for my car.
S-Techs... These are to get me by until I order coilovers.
Picked these up today off craigslist. I got these for a steal! I'm going to have to repaint them due to some serious curbage.
