New Member -- '08 WDP TL-S

Good evening, all! I've made a few posts on here but haven't introduced myself or posted pictures of the 2008 Acura TL Type-S I purchased.

A close friend, H23Accord on here, has a TL and I've always loved the way it drove and how clean they look so I decided to give in and search for a very particular TL (WDP, black leather, 6 speed, navigation and of course a Type S) and found Thomas's Acura out in Los Angeles. Here's a link to his FS thread so you can see some high resolution photos. I live in North Carolina so I booked a ticket out to LA, test drove it and had the thing shipped all the way to the east coast!

https://acurazine.com/forums/member-cars-sale-49/2008-acura-tl-type-s-wdp-ebony-6mt-los-angeles-ca-894747/

Anyways, the pictures I've taken are all from my iPhone 5. I have a DSLR I'll take some photos with later on but I've been so slammed traveling, working, school and having the TL shipped here. Here ya go!

TL getting loaded up on the truck for transport across the country:

Photos taken with my iPhone:

----------------------------------

Overall I'm very satisfied with the car and I'm so glad to have a manual transmission again. The ONLY complain I have so far is the cruise control doesn't work. The unit turns on (cruise main light in the dash) but it won't engage while I'm driving. Kind of sucks as I just had a 400 mile trip to take and didn't have cruise control. There is still 25k left on the power train warranty but I'm not sure if that covers the cruise control or not.

If anyone could give some tips on what to check out, that would be greatly appreciated! I've already checked out the brake lights to see if anything was wrong there but all is good!

Thanks for checking out this thread and I look forward to meeting some members on here and being a part of a great community.

PS -- you'll see some nice high resolution photos soon! I promise!

- Adam

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!! 6MT FTMFW

I love mine and would dread the day I'd have to give her up.

Please use wheel locks on your wheels.

Thanks, all! I forgot to mention the mods so here they are! Not a lot but subtle little things.

- 50% Pinnacle Window Tint (Windshield, side windows and 40% on the rear window)
- Independent Fog Lights using the Stock switch
- All interior LED's -- License plate lights & reverse lights included
- Rear door cover (lock cover) covering driver keyhole

ASPEC kit is definitely something I'll do sometime next year once the winter is over but I don't want to modify the suspension yet and I don't want the kit on without being dropped a little bit.

The iSimple kit will go in sometime in November as well.

I have the OEM locks on them but nothing aftermarket. Might look into something like that in the future though.

Absolutely! I fly out of Charlotte quite a bit and it's only about 2 hours away so some kind of meet can be organized I'm sure.

Anyone have any ideas on my cruise control?

Yes. I'll turn the cruise control unit on but pressing set does absolutely nothing. I've tried pressing it 100+ times, turning the unit off then back on numerous times and still nothing. I'll have to look into it more.

Yes, the set button. The green 'Cruise Main' turns on but nothing when I press set. I'm guessing it has to be a vacuum line, something with the LED board in the tails or the cable under the plastic engine cover.

Does anyone think this would be covered under the power train warranty?

I'm not sure but there is probably a fuse for the cruise control, you might want to track that down and see if is blown.

Welcome to AZ! Beautiful WDP. Yes, check for a fuse first for your cruise control.

Thanks! Which fuse is the cruise control tied into? I looked at the fuse panel above the hood release latch and the fuse panel under the hood but didn't see anything labeled cruise control. Maybe I'm just blind and missing it?

I still look at the FS thread just to see the pictures of it when it is super clean. I've been traveling so much for work since it arrived that I've only been able to wash it one time.

Thanks everyone else for the warm welcome! I'm glad I was able to pick it up before someone else did! I've wanted that combo for a while and finally bit the bullet and definitely picked up the perfect one for me.

I just need to get the cruise control issue fixed. I've had to go to Charlotte from here (120 miles each way) 3 times since it was delivered and not having it is killing my foot! I'm going to call the warranty company / Acura tomorrow and see if it's covered and if not then I'll check the cable and such on the next nice day off.

You don't work in the industrial park at the end of Long Shoals do you? I was following a white Type S about a week ago. My mother lives over in that neck of the woods.

I've tried everything. Holding the set button down for 5 seconds, pressing cancel then set, cruise control main on and off a few times, etc. Guess it's a little more than user error! Ha!

Go right ahead! Thomas has a very nice camera and has some skill in photography (as we all can see) as well. We're getting that November rain here and I've been out of town a lot so I haven't been able to give her a good wash and photo session. Hopefully soon!

Sounds good. Maybe you can help me get this cruise control unit working!

On that note, I popped the engine cover off tonight but didn't see where the cruise control cable ties in to. I also looked under the dash the best I could (near the pedals) to see if I could see a mechanism in there but didn't see much there as it was getting dark.

Can someone tell me the general area of where the cruise control cable ends at the throttle body area (which side of engine)? I checked almost every fuse in the car and they're all good.

Sweet ride man… You should immediately get the TL-S A-spec lip kit. It would make it look so sick since you got the WDP.

Hey all. I took a drive down / up the Blue Ridge Parkway today and conveniently had my camera with me. I'm still learning how to use it and of course since it was absolutely sunny today I forgot to bring the lens with the hood on it.

I bought this DSLR back in August but only used it when I was out of the country and just brought it out of the dusty bag today to snap these photos! Car is still almost completely stock but I feel a drop and the ASPEC kit sometime in the spring. I'll probably have the rear bumper resprayed as well since I can't take the 'off white' paint that Acura used from the factory.. kind of pisses me off. Anyways, here you go!

Thank you for checking out my stock TL-S!

Beautiful pictures. I have an 07 Type-S in white also, and I'm actually leaving it stock as far as bumpers and height are concerned. I actually like how it looks as it is. The one thing I do want to address though is the beating that the front bumper went through - my TL is a high mileage car because it spent most of its time on the highway, and therefore got a lot of pelts and nicks from rocks hitting it at high speed, leaving all these marks on the front bumber. From far away it's not noticeable, but it's frustrating when I'm washing it and those marks stay.

Man, that looks nice. Congrats on the new Type S. The car obviously looks perfect as is, but if I may recommend one thing. I personally think the OEM painted splash gaurds look really good especially on the white Type S. Since its only around $100 bucks, maybe consider removing the black ones for the painted gaurds. Then again, if you are set on getting aspec at some point then it would be pointless since the splash gaurds would no longer be useable.
Sweet pictures and sounds like a cool adventure. Man, that car went a long way from CA to its new home in NC.
