I think it's a dumb law. DRL's aren't even standard on all cars so it shouldn't even matter what color someone wants to put in there. It's still making the car more "visible" during the day. So what the DRL's aren't a piss yellow color as long as a light is in there it shouldn't even matter.
Unfortunately this isn't the case. Such a nonsense law, smh.

Look, I don't blame you for not wanting the "piss yellow" color, but red lighting is for emergency vehicles only.

Hmm, good point, I never thought of it that way.
But I would hope someone would be able to tell the difference during the daytime, that a black sedan was behind them with non-strobing red lights and not a big white/red vehicle with strobing lights that has Ambulance written on the hood, LOL

Yea, cops will be able to tell the difference! They don't take kindly to other cars "imitating an emergency vehicle".
I saw some kids get pulled over and hauled off to jail because they had a mic and loud speaker on their car. They were telling people to pull over-obviously as a joke. But the cops that pulled them over and threw them in jail weren't laughing at "the joke".
