I got it the same type of accident about a month ago
less damage than yours and it was about $3,500 only payed a deductible though
thank god I was fully covered

OP were you on the gas when this accident happened ? or did u have ur brakes pressed....
I had 2 friends get in a similar accident....exactly the same damage....they rear ended a sedan in front of them while texting....
lights goes green....then jump on the gas....the car ahead doesnt move tooo fast and with the texting boom....
one friend didnt have his airbag pop and he was on the gas during the accident....pressed the brakes AFTER the impact....
the other dude had his airbag pop.....he slammed the brakes BEFORE the impact but was carrying too much speed.....
both had ~3.5K in expenses (excluding the air bag expense on the first car)....both had 01 and 02 Accord EX-L Coupes....4 cylinder....
so I have drawn a simple conclusion and wanted to compare with what happened here....

I was going about 50km/h. When a got distracted by an adjacent car for a mere second and I didn't scan ahead and a rear ended a Santa Fe.
I tried turning to the left which is why most of the damage is to the left of my car. The right handside including my CAI was untouched thankfully.
And yeah I found it weird that my airbags didn't go off, but then again as I recall the impact wasn't that hard.
Again, my fault.

I had the same sort of accident, less damage.
I pulled off harder than the car in front of me and swerved to the right, and still hit him. My driver's front vs. his pass. rear side.
I slammed on the brakes before impact but still hit him. My airbags didn't go off either and I had 4k in damages...it didn't look that bad, only needed new headlight/bumper/grill/fender...so I sprang for a type-s upgraded front end
