you dont have to remove the bumber at all, you just need some skinny arms... lol there are several tabs that keep the grille in place if you get under the car you can easily see which ones i think there are a total of 7 or 8.... you just have to unhook them.. but the last one up top closest to the tire on both sides is an absolute pain in the arse to take out! once you do that you can dremel off the pieces of the grille that you wont need and leave the center as is. this will severely weaken it but its not holding anything in place so it wont matter. i then sanded it and repainted it black so it looked glossy, i then cut the mesh to size, the trick is to leave it slightly bigger then the opening it self that way you can kinda force it in and it will stay upright. ive heard of others using adhesives likes epoxy to make it stick but i just took a shortcut cuz it already taken me like 3 hrs to do and i was fed up! well worth the effort though it gives the front a completely different look. hope this helps, there are some handy Do it yourself just do a search and it will show you step by step with pics how other members have done it.

^ depends on where you live.
In Toronto, I notice winter tires on cars as early as late october-mid november.
I spent Christmas in Cali. 3 years ago, and i saw plenty of cars that hadnt switched until Christmas-New years.
