My Custom Carbon Fiber Interior Kit

Alright, well I finally have some pictures of my carbon fiber interior kit. It is made by two different companies. I combined the carbon fiber kit off ebay with the nydash.com carbon fiber kit from off their website. In total it cost around $200 and I installed it myself.. Here are the pictures for those interested....

WARNING I DID NOT CLEAN THE CAR BEFORE taking these pictures, so it looks even better than it does in the pictures when cleaned...

Do you have any pics that show the entire set-up ...like taken from the back seat to include the entire console?

Nice job!

Hmmm. You've got a quartz interior, so the compartments below the audio system and the shifter bezel were already CF - and the stock grain all runs in the same direction. The kit has the grain of the upper door running horizontal and the lower door running vertical - it just doesn't look quite right.

the grain running in the same direction really isnt important to me, svtmike if that is something you want you can purchase kits to do that in real carbon fiber, just be ready to spend around $300 or so

just the pattern, acura uses fake carbon fiber in the interior as well. It is possible to order this kit in real carbon fiber, but it's a bit expensive, I have some updated pictures on the way

personally, when i picked up my car. i had asked if they could change the fake cf pieces to silv eprlastic or seomthing.

never liked fake cf. the pattern just isnt right

couple years back, anything that had the CF pattern just meant that you couldnt afford the real thing. no benefit either since its not lighter in weight

just cant get it out of my head that a CF pattern = bad

thats just me though. it was either have the real thing, or dont have it at all.

unfortunatly the dealer had no solution for me.

heres one of the items i purchased off ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW

that is a brushed aluminum, these are all meant to be put on top of the OEM pieces...

here is the nydash kit i was talking about, and since it sounds like you want high quality stuff, this is real carbon fiber, real brushed aluminum, or real wood, these dash kits dont get any higher quality than this.. It is a little too expensive for my tastes though

http://www.nycdashes.com/cart/custom...at=2016&page=1

if you just want the pieces to cover up whats already carbon fiber, it should be signifigantly cheaper

hope that helps

That should be easy to do whether the carbon fiber is real or not - it's really a matter of the quality of the design and attention to detail, not the material used in the kit. It's something that jumped right out at me, others may not notice.

Lightbulb A kit to REPLACE the fake CF pieces

This is an interesting discussion and makes me wonder if there could be a kit which would replace the fake carbon fiber pieces we have stock with real CF, not a stick-on cover up kit. This kit you got looks much better than stock (thank you for the pics!), but I think it would be nice from a fit and finish standpoint to have the origional panels replaced with real CF pieces. I'm sure it would be more $$ but in the $200-$300 dollar range to actually replace the fake panels with real would be worth it. We are only talking about 8 or so panels....

If anyone is thinking of maybe trying to fabricate their own real CF pieces, McMaster Carr sells carbon fiber sheets. It is very expensive, though.

carbon shifter

Ok, i found this by accident on ebay. When i saw this thread i figured on contributing. I bought this shifter and installed this about 5 weeks ago, i hated the stock shifter, too small and the leather was bound to get worn.

The picture is from the guy who sells them on ebay. Ill snap my own next chance I get. The shifter is BIGGER, acura symbol very convincing and the carbon fiber is a close match. The camera flash makes them seem out of phase but they compliment nicely.

shifter

the guy is listing it as "Acura TL 2004/05 dynamic blackwood Shift Knob"

Finally ended up picking up one of these on eBay and got it installed tonight... and it looks AMAZING! The CF actually matches the stock perfectly... I'm very impressed... and feels so much better in the hand. Great recommendation!
