The Misadventure's of o4komodo's Custom Jaguar Grey TL
Well, as some of you know... My car is in pretty rough shape!
Lots of body damage, a relatively sight for sore eyes.
Then there's a few other issues I have at hand...
VSA malfunction, CV boot torn, interior dash LEDs burned out, leather door lining falling off [this damn thing won't freaking stay glued!] and now currently an issue with my extended studs+hub. Fantastic.
So, the TL was officially paid off for in January... and it's time to say goodbye so I thought I'd make this thread. It'll be a look-back from then till now.
My ride before the TL (A hand-me-down, went from my father, to my mother, to my older sister, then to me). We had this car in the family before I was born until I was 19 years old.
1989 Oldsmobile 3.5L (automatic) Cutlass Supreme
And now the TL
Then I got a DSLR...
Then I started learning better about night photography.
Quickly went to purchase an AEM intake and P2R TB Spacer from XLR8. No pics of that.
Moved to another city for school... Then I did headlights and the shark-mouth-grille mod, a skunk2 shift knob and a CF duct all at once.
I also then bought ATLP quads and an ATLP race pipe. No pics of that in particular.
Then decided to move to Windsor...
Decided to upgrade some lighting.
This neat little trick caused a lot of trucks to turn their tailgator-light on me.
It was my DRLs powered to 100% and on only when my lows were.
You can clearly see my low-beam vs DRL..
With the highs on:
The day after I decided to do a dyno for fun.
Then a week later decided to fix my light problem and add switchbacks.
Legacy fog projectors up top and Lexus fog projectors down below.
Lowered the TL on Tein S-techs+Tokico Blues.
Then tried adding an S2K splitter with a replica a-spec lip.
Went to Can-Am a while after.
Decided to get a replica roof spoiler from a Mercedes.
Did my best to make it fit the TL.
After the work:
Then I got my Acurazine sticker. Along with the start of my rear bumper+trunk damage.
Forgot when, but decided it was time to do my tail lights.
The lights came out horrible as they were all 'pre-cut' by another member. I bought all his spare parts and tail lights and assembled what I could with them.
Went on a trip to Windsor and back to Toronto... had my buddy drive so I could stick my body out the TL and take a few "rolling shots".
We were travelling about 80km/h on the highway.
Here's one I did of the same concept, but at 25km/h in my buddy's lancer [with my other friends]
Then most recent mod...
Bought rims almost a year ago (April). I also plasti-dipped the roof black to help prevent rusting [had a rust spot by the window]. Had to add 15mm spacers in the front to clear my Brembos.
The only mod I did since the wheels were getting a plug-n-play reverse HID kit. But I didn't wire up the ballasts with a relay... so I ran only on HID with a high powered Cree LED. It worked while for a while until something blew on the HID [didn't diagnost it yet].
Oh yeah! I also lost a side skirt and brand new fender liners back in June...
I ended up buying replacement parts (the A-Spec kit) from Bruce [AckTL05] but never installed them.
Well, there was this back in October...
But I never installed it or painted it.
I had the bumper in my room, until yesterday [it's no longer in my posession].
So I don't know why... but then this happened during the two weeks it sat in my room.
And now I leave you with my car kicking into VTEC.
Thanks for looking!
I currently no longer have the TL in my possession... Currently looking into other means of transportation for the time being. Maybe I'll invest in the public limo.

I always loved that you were always adventurous in doing modifications most won't attempt to do. I always loved those tail lights!! If you part ways with them, let me know.

It definitely has! But there's sort of a reason for the neglect. Sort of.
I gave up on the front splitter long ago actually lol.
I have a new idea... involves making it from scratch. Just need resources and I'm sure I can make it happen, for real this time.
lol,
Hahah... crazy, that's a new one. Thanks? Maybe? I think?
Thanks Steven!
Hahah the TL wasn't intentionally meant to be a beater... but it was my only car. The ATLPs are definitely a sick exhaust! I've been thinking about the JPipe [ATLP vs RV6] and the precats... but then I decided against it.
Thanks! Love your TL too by the way! Your engine bay is suh-weeeeet!!
I tried to make my TL different from others but unique to me.
And trust me... You don't want the tail lights. They are in horrible condition due to the cuts the original person made. His cuts were HUGE and not uniform... it caused silicone and epoxy to leak through the housing. It's not noticeable until you're relatively close though.
lol! That's a bit harsh but yes... the TL was in a rough state [body wise]. It's been through some abuse, mainly others hitting my [parked] car. But, it wasn't a reason I should have neglected the paint as I did.
I lol'd.
Oh... I'm pretty sure you will all be plenty surprised.
Let's just say, maybe I made this thread a little premature...

Calm your panties your talking as if the TL's on the same level as a Rolls Royce; I've seen TLs riced out with my very own eyes especially more than ever these days. Oh, and that's not to say 04komodo's car is trash, he experimented with a lot of mods most members wouldn't even touch, so kudos to him for that.

No it's not matte actually... although it's not too late.
Probably going to with gloss to make the color pop...
New car would be nice, heheh... but no I just ended up with a repaint. Just tried to word things to make it seem like a new, different, car is coming =p
I'm not exactly sure how the car is turning out to be honest. I left it in another city--in another province. It's been two weeks. I'm still waiting for it to be finished and then I'll get to pick it up!

MOAR! Or, at least, the rest of what the painter sent me:
and the work that was being done:
Apparently removing plastidp from the roof is a bitch...
I should be able to pick up the TL on Friday or Saturday.
I have the rest of the pieces at home...
TL-S fog inserts, TL-S V-Trim Grille...
In fact, I have my hands full with a lot of upcoming mods.
If you look carefully in this pic you'll see SOME of the things I have in store:

The only downside is that we wasted a day or two of work due to complications about the paint I previously wanted.
The painter is my buddy's friend, who I was friends with since grade 10.
His dad works at a body shop... he's essentially doing this on his spare time for me.

Keep the pictures coming!
I've been waiting for the day that you'd get everything fixed up!
I need body work done on my TL too!

Sup GP!
Sorry hahah no more photos...
BUT this weekend, I promise you there will be lots of them!
I'm going to try my hand at photography again [haven't shot a picture in 2 years now]... and I asked my buddy [who does wedding videos/photos] to help shoot my car this weekend.
I'll keep everyone posted!
Also, if you need body work and don't mind abandoning it in Windsor for a while--I'll hook you up with my hook up!
And here are some REALLY bad pics of my buddy's dad's work:
My friend's 6G Celica before:
after--probably the worst comparison photo ever (he doesn't have day photos):

haha yeah... there was a reason for the neglect---although that shouldn't really be a good thing.
And when you edited a photo of mine before, I was DYING to get it repainted and now I finally got the chance to! =]

And ugh, so storm today and yesterday. It's EXTREMELY slushy out here in Toronto (Scarborough for me). Probably about 1-1.5" of slush!
On a side note, I'm loving my cellphone even more everytime I use it. I took this photo from my phone at 1:45am outside of my apartment... in the darkness.

Now you are talking boy! can't wait to see the car done with the new paint
BTW, regarding the pic you said to take a good look at to see your coming mods... well
can't see shit......

And odd, pic works for me.
There's actually probably two things to really note in that pic, besides the carbon-grille which I already revealed.
But the two things are related to one particular thing...
Aside from that, I have a few other things coming =p
ALSO Luk DMFW and Luk clutch kit has been ordered... arriving in 15 days. Finally going to get some power back!

Update!
Clearcoat has been applied... car is in the baking stage.
Photos are taken with an iPhone 4, maybe 4-s. Not my pics by the way, again just what the painter is sending me.
Roof hasn't been sprayed black yet. Darn =t
