BTW, why AEM EMS and not Hondata?

I got an update last night. Wayne got a hold of the owner and he said he is going to take care of it first thing this morning. He also sent an email to customer service. So hopefully the part will be overnighted today and he will have it in his hands first thing tomorrow morning so he can finish the install.

The 2000-2005 S2000 doesn't have a programable ECU so you have to run a stand alone EMS. The 2006-2009 you can use Hondata. I think overall the AEM allows you to control so much more than Hondata does, but either way you can get a great tune. Personally if I could have gone the Hondata route I would because it keeps the OBDII port intact so you can still go to inspection. With the stand alone the OBDII port is useless so it looks like I'm not taking the car to inspection anymore. Well, unless I feel like swapping in the stock ECU, injectors, MAP sensor, and pull off the SC belt. But honestly I'd rather not.

I swapped in the ECU from a slighter newer TL to be able to use the Hondata and for me it made a world of difference. I found the AEM does have additional features but most i did not use. The actual items i really did need it to use it did not manipulate them perfectly (probably about 80%). I actually had a slight hesitation (small RPM blip) that i thought was a mechanical problem but it totally went away when i got Hondata. I was getting a CEL relevant to the fuel air ratio that i could not get rid of. When that CEL would come on the stock ECU would automatically compensate pulling timing to protect motor. THis resulted in loss power and that weird blip. As soon as new ECU + Hondata + Vit tuned all is perfect (no CEL, no hesitation, no lost power).

Anyways just a quick anecdote for you to keep an eye out on it. Never hurts to hear experiences from other who have already been down the same path.

PS--lets get some build pics in here. Part waiting time is perfect for some quick pics.

MAS I think there is something similar like that for the S, with swapping in an RSX ECU or something like that, but I wasn't about to tempt fate. The AEM EMS has been pretty tried and true on this car with great results.

I did get an update last night from the shop. "We are all set I will be on track for tomorrow. Going to have to push to make it for Saturday. But I should be good." So it sounds like everything is going to work out just fine.

LOL...so basically, Wayne eliminated his 12 hour breaks and he'll push through and git r done on time anyway!
I hope he's right...

What date is your tuner getting it? Is there break in period and then you can go H.A.M. and get a full, more aggressive tune?

Go easy on me, I'm a FI virgen.

Lol, yeah I was thinking the same thing about the "push through" comment.

The tuning appointment is this Saturday. However, once Wayne installs everything , Randy (the tuner) is coming to Wayne's shop and putting a base map in it. This is just to get the car running so it can be driven to the dyno. At NO point should you be boosting around on a base map. Once I get to the tuner and it's on the dyno and all hooked up to the computer Randy will be ripping on it. No break in period is required on the supercharger setup. The only thing that had to be broken in was the new clutch, which I got about 300 miles on.

Technically Saturday afternoon. I will be picking the car up probably Friday night and then driving it to the tuner Saturday morning for my appointment at 10am. So once Randy is all done I'll have a fully functional, ready to rip on, boosted S2000.

Lmao! Yeah man it's nice to see it all coming together and it's going to be crazy to see and feel how much power the thing puts down. I'll be sure to take a shit before leaving the tuner so I don't make a mess in the car when I floor it.

Thanks Steven, I'm dying with anticipation over here just waiting for the call Friday to pick it up tomorrow. Going to be so hard not to get into boost driving it until the actual tune though.

No dirty talk. I just fuck it right in the pussy unannounced. Just like rape.

Also, a little update. Got a text today from Wayne.

"Chip just an update we are running a little behind due to the missing part. We still look good at this point to have it ready to tune tomorrow. We are looking to be finished with it late tonight. Randy knows what's going on and will be here later today to do what he needs to do and start up. I will update you as we go. Thanks"

Thank you!

In all reality, I couldn't tell you where it comes from. I see something and automatically some response pops into my head. Usually not appropriate, but kinda funny.

Ok so I got this text last night........All good chip. I have a few things to clean up and I have to make you a new intake and it's ready to go to the dyno Randy was here did the wiring and start up everything is working great. I will be here at 930am for you to get it.

Not sure what the new intake thing is all about, but I guess I'll get all the answers I'm looking for today when I pick it up.

Don't most superchargers have custom intakes? Does the kit include the filter but they leave it up to the fabricator to figure out best place when they're making all the piping?

You sure he's not putting this thing on backward?

Lol, nah the kit comes with the intake and piping. I'm guessing that it was probably because of the fabrication for the BOV that maybe the regular intake piping is no interfering with it, but I should be finding out in the next few minutes.

So who is ready for a TL;DR? Ok here goes....

I get to the shop this morning to pick up my car and talk to the owner Wayne a little bit. He winds up telling me that he had the right bracket to the supercharger all along, but the instructions were old so he thought he was missing it. Ok no biggie, that was his fault that it set him back a day for his mess up. He tells me to take my time driving to the dyno, don't go into boost, etc. He trusts me to drive it there since I'm not some 20 year old kid and I'm going to start ripping on it.

Ok so I'm on the road driving to the dyno and I'm cruising along not driving hard at all, shifting easy, keeping rpm down.....then while I'm in 6th gear the car bogs a little bit and I press the gas and I get no response. I figure the car is running pretty rich on this base map, so I downshift into 4th and finally get a response from the car. Ok so now I'm about half way there and get to a red light. As soon as I stopped the car stalls out. Try restarting the car and it won't turn over. FUCK! I put on my flashers and wave the cars around me. Luckily not a minute later a cop pulls up to the intersection I am at so I wave them down and they come sit behind me so cars don't smash into the back of me. There were two officers in the car so one helped me push my car into the plaza about 50 feet away while the other trailed in the SUV. I call Wayne explain what is going on, he says to sit there for a minute and then try restarting the car. If I can't get it started he will come out. He tells me to drive it a little harder and keep rpms higher and don't go any higher than 4th. I give it a few minutes and luckily the car starts back up and I'm on my way.

Now with a 1/4 of the way left to go I remember I need to fill up for all the dyno pulls. As I get closer to the gas station, the car now wants to sit at 3k rpm no matter if I'm in gear, out of gear, foot on clutch, foot off clutch, ugh. I get to the gas station shut it off, fill up, and call Wayne again telling him my issue. He says the ECU was probably programmed to compensate for other factors going on. Timing, air, fuel, etc. I said ok, I'm not far now so I should be able to get there. Start the car back up and the high idle has stopped and I head on my merry way.

I finally make it to the dyno. Randy (the tuner) and I go for a street run so he can fine tune it a little better before it gets on the dyno for the final runs. We do that, I get to go into boost a little bit and it was quite fun. Get back, get all strapped up to the dyno and he goes to town. I was on the phone on his last pull and I hear that he doesn't go WOT. I figured he was just fine tuning other areas so I don't think anything of it. After my call I come back inside to find out that something has gone wrong. The 85mm pulley that connects to the back of the supercharger has broken off somehow. Now this isn't an install error, this is a manufacturer error. We call Wayne and he has a tow truck come get me to bring it back to his shop.

So after all this waiting and anticipation and I don't even get to drive my car after it is tuned. I got to sit in a tow truck and take a ride back to Wayne's shop. He is going to take it apart and contact Kraftwerks first thing Monday and see what happens from there. I'm sure it will all get resolved, but man, what a disappointment.

On the plus side, I did take some pics and got a video.
The car made 462hp/281tq

Thanks Spectra. I'm trying to stay positive about it all though. It could be worse. At least Wayne is right by my side in all this and is doing all the leg work to make this right. Shit, the guy that towed my car didn't even charge me. It will all get worked out and will be great in time. Just have to be positive about it.

This car will be a blast to drive once the minor bugs are worked out! These minor things happen to everyone, don't let it get you down. It will be fixed in no time.

Wow, well if it were easy everyone would be doing it, right. No worries it will all turn out fine. Damn that is some serious power for that little car.

By the way did I notice him do the pull in 4th gear? All of my pulls have always been in 3rd. I think they use the gear that closest to 1:1.
