LED's - What A Difference

I tell ya what...for the price of these things, I don't know why it took 10+ months to add these. They make a HUGE difference

Just grabbed 2 pics last night of the license plate bulbs. They're 5k, even though the one looks 6k.

I also did the door/courtesy light, and the front & rear dome lights. All 5k as well.

Glad you like them!

They're my favourite "cheap" mods.

Which LEDs you buy?

Thanks for the links and the license plate light looks great.

Can you also please post the door/dome lights as well if possible? I want to go with 5k as well but don't want it to look too blue and cheap..just bright white with a hint of blue.

First link in post #3. 5k is what you want if you're looking for that bright white.

Looking good Lefty. I ordered some 5k white angled flank style bulbs that just arrived in the mail today. I plan on installing them and replacing my current 360 style 5k white 5-led bulbs.

The 360 style bulbs aren't great to use in license plate lights.. I noticed when you plug the bulb in, the bulb points down. When you have a 360 style bulb in there (in my case, a 5-led 360 style) 4 LEDs are pointing to the sides in different directions, while only 1 LED is actually shooting straight down through the license plate lense to illuminate the license plate.

I was thinking about upgrading them and replacing them with 13-LED 360 style bulbs, but than again I would have the same problem. 10LEDs would be shooting to the sides in different directions, while the top 3 would be the only one shooting straight down.

With the angled flank style bulbs, all 6 LEDs are aimed straight downwards so no LEDs get put to waste (I.E. Shooting light off to the sides)

Bright white w/ a hint of blue would be 6k

Pure white like you see on newer Lexus would be 5k.

5K

6K

I have the same setup basically but in 6K for those curious eyes:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-photograph-gallery-96/some-led-love-lots-pictures-810519/

The only difference from our setups (aside from me using 6k) is that I used 6 LED flanks (not angled) for the front domes. The rear dome and the doors use the 5 LED.

Damn you have the 360 style 5-LED for your front passenger/driver door? Looks bright as hell.

I just installed 13-LED 360 style ones from v-leds and they don't look that bright. Maybe its cause mines are blue instead of white lol. I was thinking about getting flank style for the front doors.

Those 13 LED's I ordered didn't fit with the housing on in the doors...so I went back and just ordered the 5 led style like I did for the domes.

That's absurd.... I bought the exact same ones but in blue and mines fit the housing just fine?

Granted they do kind of touch the plastic housing when closed, but for the most part the bulb plugs in and the housing snaps back on in place just fine for me?

Send me your 13-led white bulbs?

Nope, they didn't fit. I tried a few times. Got it to snap on, but the housing was bulging. If you have another set of 5 bulb ones, I'll trade ya

Hmmm.. tempting... I just replaced my license plate lights with 6-led flank angled style bulbs and now i have 2 5k 5-led 360 style bulbs left over that i have no use for...

I would trade, but than I would end up with 13-led 360 style bulbs that i also have no use for... lol

The 13 LED's are worth a dollar more than the 5 LED's. So you make a buck

Yea I love the LEDs, the ones in the plate just give the car a much newer look too it. I have had mine in for about 2 years now and they still look great.

5K is perfect IMO. Looks bright bright white. It looks just like Lexus's white, but Lexus got the softer white. This is more hard/sharp

6K was a little too blue for me... 5k also goes very well with the 4.3k head lights!
