Just picked up my first Manual car a week ago

Hey Guys, Just picked up my TL christmas morning, first manual car I've bought, the seller dropped it off at my work and I had to get home, so I taught myself :p

Country/State/City of purchase: Canada/Quebec/Montreal
Color Ext/Int: Black/Black
Month/Yr of purchase: 12/15
Price paid before tax/lic (including factory installed mods): $5900
Model Yr of TL: 2004
Transmission: 6MT
Navi/Non-Navi: Non NAvi

Mods:
Tein Coilovers

Needs about 1000$ of repairs, then in the summer I'm planning on wrapping it and lowering it again, and throwing on some new shoes. (vossens maybe?)

I dropped it off at my mechanics this morning to raise the car, change tie rods, ball joint and lower cv bushing, along with a servicing.

about 3 days after I got it, I hit a chunk of snow that turned out to be ice, and in the brittle -21 degree weather, it shattered the corner of my bumper... so I guess I gotta throw on a new lip too...

Attachment 102128
Attachment 102129
Attachment 102130

Looking forward to riding this in the summer!

Very cool shots,
great plans for the car so far...
2004 Manual TL's are the Fastest...
ECU says so!

You won't regret it, especially at that price...
and I think Vossen is 19-20" and up? That's a big/heavy wheel for this car...
Great choice on coils...have the headlights sanded/professionally cleared and you'll be in business.

Thanks Man, It's got 185k, it's a little high, but not as high as some of the other 6mt ones I saw (220-245 was the average)

You're right. I'm now thinking 18-19's. I'll see in the spring what I'm feeling. right now it's maintenance and rust removal.

I can't edit my post, but I forgot to mention I picked up a meguires sand and polish kit for the headlights. I will try it out this weekend.

Trust me, man...for the long haul, look into having it professionally cleared, you'll be having to redo the megs every 3 months.

Thanks for the info, but I had already picked up the kit. I'll do it, then get it rofessionally done in 3 months. Figure 25$ aint bad for 3 months.

Another alternative to getting them cleared is Opti-Lens

I'm jealous of all the snow in the pictures, I just went to tremblant for the weekend but not much snow.

At least in Florida, Opti-lens doesn't last. It does better than others, and certainly than nothing...but the haze returns pretty quickly.

you're fine using the kit. just get a tint place to put a clear tint over it after you're done and you'll have a 7-10 year warranty on it. should be about 85-100 USD

There hasn't been much snow at all this year, It was just a coincidence that I got the car the first day it started snowing

I'm sorry, you mean put a clear tint over it after I get it professional cleaned; not after I polish it, correct?

I my side business used to be digital printing and wrapping cars until plasti-dip came out, so I'll eventually wrap my car after I get all the body work done. I'm thinking m227 matte metallic blue, and putting on some works vsxx (gold) or if I can afford gold vip modulars... anyways, here's to dreams

do the entire process using the kit (clean, sand, polish). then get a clear tint put over top to keep it from hazing or going yellow. most shops won't put the clear tint on it until you have fully sanded and polished the headlights clear of the existing hazing

Just got my car back from the mechanics. Changed the lower control arm bushings, front sway bar links and front outer tie rods, along with the busted hood struts. raised the car back to stock height and a much needed oil change. Now that the immediate things are taken care off, I can start working on the body issues.
