cold cathodes look nice! the foil tape is the key. i guess you managed to see the DIY link before it expired. it was one of my first mods on my 07. easy and cheap.
Thanks jptl04!

One of the many reasons why my TL is far from "clean" now.

Probably not worth the claim.

Gonna try buffing it out and using touchup paint.

My LEDs didn't come today

Maybe tommorow

Anywho, do any of you know what fuse rating I should use to for my "add a fuse" for my "constant on"?

I heard LEDs don't really need a high amp rating, but I need to make sure if I should use 5amp or 3 amp fuse.

Thanks!

PS...about messing around with using fuse 6...be VERY careful as that fuse is linked to the multiplex control unit and if you short it out, it's a very expensive and PITA piece to fix. I would absolutely NOT touch fuse 6 for any of our mods. It is also the fuse for keyless entry, dome lights, alarm...the list goes on.
correct me if i am wrong but i don't think the fuse # 6 would serve the purpose of having the footwell light up when u open the door as i believe would always be on as you could still turn on interior light even when you dont have the keys @ ignition....?

^^^ J, if anything you should go with smaller fuses....your risking your car's electricals' with a bigger fuse

Yes, I agree...but a lot of times you add stuff to the system that may be slightly too much voltage but not dangerous...if I'm not mistaken, MOST voltage spikes or shorts that fry the fuse will fry a 2.5 or 30 amp regardless..

But yes, I won't misinform, just have a bad habit of going bigger.

AWWW YEAH!!

I LOVE IT.
It's not SUPER bright (it's only a 6" 5 LED strip), and it's not too dim!
The colour is perfect! Looks very white!

Took 5 hours in total...

Could have done it in 2-3 hours...
I had to take SO many pics for the DIY and I messed up a lot of times doing stupid things lol
It also took me like 45 minutes trying to get to the dome super visor wire.

WOw...that is great...mine are just individual led's I soldered different sized resistors on to get more lighting up front and less in the back to make it very subtle...yours are awesome though...

About the fuse, I agree...but really a short will fry 30 the same as a 3 and sometimes the oem fuse is rated for whatever is on there but won't take into account for something you may have added to the circuit, even if just for remote turn on.

I only like doing these mods because it's winter right now and nothing better to do on the car other than LEDs LOL

ok, took some...not as bright as yours but matches the ambient pretty well...also have an off switch for it. These are all just single LED's.

Matches the ambient light well!

I'm so jealous of your OEM all weather floor mats.

@GP: OEM shit FTW LOL

@Rocky: the front look cool....for the rear i have some constructive criticism....wish the rear's were a little more evenly spread out....looks like a spot light in the rear....

Already bought these ones since they were on sale and they get the job done LOL

In the dry season I store them away and just use the carpet mats.

If I had OEM all seasons I would rock them all year round.

Now I wish I spent the money on OEM ones.

Damn!!! im next! but have a question, are the light on the entire time when you guys are driving? or do they turn on when, let's say, you open the door, etc? reason i ask is because i have a lot of stuff in my car, navi, radar, leds, subwoofer, etc. sometimes i think that my car is like a timing bomb that is waiting for its moment to explode lol
i don't want to die soon, im not even canadian yet

You stole my idea, lol. I've been wanting to either paint or wrap my key fob for a while. Mine wasn't in that bad of a condition to start, but the ocd in me couldn't accept the the scuffed up paint on it. Your post made me look into it more, but again the brownness in me was too cheap to pay for a whole roll of vinyl just to wrap the key. A quick google search then lead me to a genesis coupe forum where they were doing the same thing for FREE.

Anyways, if anyone wants to do this, look up the 3M website and there is a form to request FREE samples of their 1080 vinyl. The send you like 50 different samples. I wrapped mine in brushed steel and brushed titanium. It was a pain in the ass though. Will post pics later.

here's a link to the site: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...ts/Series1080/

In my eyes, the button side could use some contrast (like the paint underneath).

Or maybe just paint the buttons brushed aluminum.

The texture is awesome and 3M 1080 carbon fiber which is glossy reflects light soo much better than normal Di-Noc so need for clearcoat to get a nice sheen effect (As you can see in my pictures).

Oh, as you can see this keyfob is very worn. It's from an 04 LOL
The "A" emblem on the back is chipped on the bottom and buttons are pretty worn. You can't even see the lock/unlock icons.
Thought about getting a sticker for the icons...

GP, that's how I now feel about my window visors!

Swoosh, yeah, man...I got you, I went with some directional ones for the back, they work. Adds just a little lighting, which was my goal. I may rewire them with full 360 degree ones.

I'm trying to understand how you managed to keep the contrast on that darker/lighter area. Very great job!

And you are awesome for sharing that link of samples. I may sign up just to keep for reference.

I used two different vinyl colors, brushed steel (outside) and brushed titanium (inside). I originally wrapped it the gray carbon fiber but it didn't come out to my expectations. The carbon fiber was much harder to wrap since its a thicker materiel. Plus, the brushed metals have a much classier look and feel suiting of a luxury brand.
