Oh---that's Father's Day weekend. I'd be in Hamilton on Sunday (planning to at least). So I could probably do the Saturday

Still alive 
Lately I've been thinking about how sensible it would be to sell this money pit of a car.
Few problems arose, and I took care of them so it's still kicking ass and getting compliments.
A few things since last update:
AC Pulley Bearing went bad - caused super loud knocking sound which I thought was occurring inside my engine. To my relief, taking off the accessory belt made the knock go away. Coincidentally, my AC stopped working and the clutch was not engaging.
Replaced the belt tensioner assembly first because I thought it caused the knocking sound.
Purchased a used AC compressor and took the pulley, clutch, and coil from it to replace the one on my compressor.
My pulley bearing was so worn out that it caused friction, resulting in the coil behind the pulley to burn which explains why my AC clutch was not engaging and AC was blowing hot air.
Replacing the AC components was quite the job, not fun and I do have some picture on my phone I'll upload. Everything works great now - no knocking sound and AC is blowing cold. Might be one of the most rewarding DIYs I've done. The knocking was so loud I was looking at used engines.
The most noteworthy thing I did recently was the Nexus 7 2013 mod. My navigation drive would sometimes display "Check disk at dealer" or something. It worked 90% of the time, but that was not good enough for me. I got sick of it and had to take action.
I'm still waiting on one more component to come from China before showing it off. Huge thanks to Dave, sockr1 for all his help on that mod!
I had my rear quarter panel rust repaired back in summer of 2014 and rust bubbles started forming so it went back in the body shop last month and I got both sides redone since the driver side was starting to rust a little. I also now have max clearance since I asked the body shop to give me more clearance without losing the body lines. He wanted to flare my fenders out but I said no. A week after coming out of the body shop, small heat bubbles formed on one side so I brought it back to get it redone.
I haven't taken any pictures recently because the car still looks the same.

Firstly, you live in the North NORTH America so really you don't need AC
Secondly, I love you.
Thirdly, what you spent to fix the ac and the little bs troubles you go through is probably 10% the cost of the taxes you'd pay to have a new vehicle.
Then you'd have to take that new vehicle and spend that same tax number and then some to make the car look half as cool as yours looks now.
Then you'd have a car that everyone can sweat at the car meets that everyone else has already that's no big deal because you just bought it and it looks shiny and new and there's NO pride in that.
Your car is old now.
Your car doesn't look old now.
Rockstar was a fool and sold his pride and joy black base TL that was paid off and pretty and good on gas and reliable as fuck with a few minor annoyances.
Rockstar has had numerous cars since and they all do the exact same thing while also costing him a ton more than it would have to just keep on driving black.

Been wanting to change up my tail lights for a long time.
All new cars have something in common - dark red tail lights. New X5, RAV4, S5, Macan, new CRV etc.
I wanted to make my tail lights look a bit more modern.
This is what I came up with:
The parts:
07/08 base red bezels
Type-S brake covers tinted by a painter with clear coat mixed with a tiny bit of black. No texture or fading. Minimal output loss.
04-06 base bottom clear reflectors
The process:
Stock tail light assemblies are painted silver inside. I painted it black to make the red brake cover appear darker without losing output. Also painted the LED board with Plasti-dip, masking off the individual LEDs. This further darkened the look without losing light output.
You can see my inspiration was from the C63
You can also see the new dark red tails vs bright red tails on the older S class.
Absolutely love the new rear end look. Much more modern while staying with the OEM look.
Lots of changes made to the TL and I hope to photograph them soon!
