First Acura - 07 KBP Type-S 5AT - Ownership Thread

Thank you @04WDPSeDaN. That's true about insurance companies. Sorry to hear about your wife, I hope she is doing better now and that drawn out process you've been dealing with comes to a close soon.
Your Type-S is inspiring BTW, I checked out some of the pics in your photo thread. Really top condition and I'm sure it's taken a great deal of time and effort to get it there and keep it there.
I'm doing pretty much what you suggest with sending comparables, records, etc. Should find out this week if the settlement is revised in a good direction. Fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome regarding your car and the insurance dealings, given the circumstances.

Time to write the last chapter for my Type-S
The insurance claims agents were somewhat helpful, and I was able to get the settlement amount raised to almost what I paid for it back in May. Not what I put into it of course, but can't expect that. I made a couple attempts to sell it to people I knew, in hopes of having it parted out to the community or brought back to life by someone who'd be willing to go through the process of repairing and re-certifying a salvage title car. In the end, neither came through, but the system is really not designed to make it easy for private individuals to part or repair cars in this situation.
Given my work demands these days, I had to bite the bullet and give it back to insurance. It pained me to drive it onto the truck (still ran fine) and watch it leave my neighborhood.
My only consolation came from the wrecker driver, who told me what would likely happen to it. He said these salvage cars go to auction, and almost always get purchased by someone overseas, shipped there, repaired with cheaper labor, and resold. So in a few months my Type-S could be driving around Latvia, Estonia, or Poland. Who knows, but I hope it does get a second life. It deserved better than to get totaled by a deer, but sometimes life hands you a raw deal.
It's sad to see this dream car journey end so soon. I had planned to carry on this KBP Type-S's legacy as its third owner, but instead I'll remember it as it was the day of Hondafest 2021. At least it got one last moment in the sun.
I do have some parts left over which I'm now selling, here are the links. If anyone is interested, please DM me. Hopefully these can go to people in the community who need them.
Full Black Leather Interior New $700
Progress Rear Sway Bar & Fastline Endlinks New $220
Jack Kit & Trunk Nets Great Condition $20
TEIN Street Advance Coilover Adjustment Tools & Instructions $10
In closing, let me just say I've been impressed by everyone here on AZ. Thanks for all your advice and good wishes. Stay safe out there and enjoy your Acuras!

@20dreamcars So sorry to read about this and super sad to see it go up on that tow truck. That is a true gem and sad for the community....this may be unethical but do insurance/wreck yard check if you took off any parts off the car? I mean if the rubber is new...maybe swap in some used rubber or other things....

Having parted my old 05 Base out, what was the buy back price if you don't mind me asking? I would be curious if it would have been worth it.
Also, sorry to hear about the car. They can be replaced, happy you weren't injured. Must have been one hell of a big deer. Very odd damage from it though I will say.

@BreezyTL Thanks. The deer jumped straight into the car at speed, I was in the left lane. Physics. I'm just glad it didn't jump into my door, or go through the windshield. This whole event has certainly made me reconsider my cruising speeds, on the Merritt Parkway and off. Lower speed = less damage. But it was so random. Regarding insurance, the buy back was about $2K. If I could have parted it myself I would have. So many good parts!
