Family Guy I love the work that you have done to your Type S very tasteful and functional mods. I'm happy to say that my build will mimic yours to a degree but will have my touches to make it unique. Question the battery where did you get it and what model is it? and big props to maxbore I love their work

Thx bud appreciate it! It's a Braille 17lb battery, P/N B2317. I got it off eBay, from a speed shop vendor. I wanted a lightweight battery but not so small that it would run out of juice if not driven for a couple of days. I sort of guessed at this 17lb one. So far I've gone a full week and it still starts, so good for me. Saved about 21lbs over the OEM battery + tray / plastic cover.
Damn, you had to ask me that huh lol. I don't remember the diameters, but Maxbore managed to get around ~4mm over stock. IIRC stock is around 64mm and he got it to around ~68-69mm. Going off memory here, don't quote me on it. I forget which side this is on, intake or manifold side (the TB has a slight taper to it), but he did an awesome job, and I got his matched gasket to complete it. You can go bigger with the ZDX / SH-AWD TB and mani, but many guys here with a 6mt have had throttle hang and idle issues, and I didn't want any headaches, so I went with a PnP on the stock parts. Car drives great! I believe the PnP gets you within a couple HP of the ZDX / SH-AWD option, minus the issues, so I'm happy with that. I want to maximize the car but keep it running smooth, so far so good

Lol Your welcome bro. Im thinking of just PNP the Intake Mani, the runners and the TB will be it. I dont want to go overboard and have headaches as well. Just looking for some extra punch. I like that battery saved you quite a bit in weight

I used Maxbore on the TB and one of our members here called Gerzand for the mani and runners (Google him). Highly recommend both

Yes I have looked at a few of his youtube videos and his stuff looks amazing. If you don't mind me asking what did the PNP job set you back?

IIRC it was around 300 for both mani and runners all together. Been a while, not sure what he charges now (Gerzand). Maxbore was around ~130, with the gasket and flush screws options.

Love what you did to your car. So Gerzand still does the porting for other members?
So did you just remove your IM and runner and ship it to him to get it done?
Don't know how it'll work since the TL is my daily.

Yes sir, Gerzand does PnP jobs to assist in the funds for his supercharged type s beast I did mine last year so get a hold of him to see if he still offer his services.
Yeah it's not easy, my car was down for like ~3 weeks between the PnP jobs and the powder coater. Both Maxbore and Gerzand were able to turn around my PnP parts in about a week. I lost just over a week at the powder coater, due to a holiday weekend, plus a couple days for my guy to put everything back in the car. I car pooled with my girl during all this
Was it worth it? Hell yes

I almost did that, but I live with my girl (married now), so luckily we were able to share a car for a few weeks.
Then, just sell your stock parts in the black market and recoup some of the money. I think a performance shop would probably charge around 400-600 to do what Gerzand does, so yeah it's a great deal and he does good work as you can see.
The valve covers I bought new and threw away the originals. Too much gunk / corrosion, just wasn't worth it and they're not too expensive new.

Unreal! Great work.. Question, I have had other cars in the past and have gotten Cold Air Intakes but they were much weaker imports and never really had a big difference I could notice. I just purchased my 6 Speed 06 TL a month ago and it's the quickest and strongest car I have ever owned. I'm pretty sure I know the answer already but did you notice a considerable difference after the Cold air install? I'm looking at a Injen RD1482P Polished Race Division Cold Air Intake System for about 210 Dollars. Is that a good buy or would you recommend something else?
Thanks in advance

Honestly I can't answer that because I installed my CAI along with a full exhaust and LW clutch / flywheel / pulley. So I felt the collective effect.
From what I've seen here on Azine you might not feel much, but you'll hear it for sure and dynos have shown ~10hp. There is a lot of speculation here on Azine as to whether or not a CAI gives this car any significant gains, but if you're looking for performance then you need to open up the intake and exhaust no matter what, and even though the stock CAI is ok, it was still designed to be quiet - usually at the expense of top performance, so it's not exactly the best thing around in my opinion. It also has a lot of plastic piping that I'm happy to get rid of, opens up space for engine bay to breathe / cool off and saves about 5-8lbs.
The Injen should be similar to the AEM go for it

Hey OP how do you like the UR pulley? That's basically the only performance mod I haven't done just because the install is a little more involved. I may do this at the 105k maintenance but that's still a year away or so
#106

If you still haven't done the timing belt service, you should def do the pulley at the same time. This car responds to reduced weight, esp reduced drivetrain loads, like a LW FW and pulley. My first 3 gears rip through the RPMs because of this, and I'm still on the stock wheels. Lightweight wheels are in the distant future plans. Do it up

WOW just WOW. That engine tho! Car looks awesome, suspension looking good!
My old man was telling me to PnP and powder coat the engine. I just may after seeing this masterpiece lol.
Would you say about a grand to have all that done roughly?

I think the PnP and powder coating together was around 600-700, after some savvy shopping around. The powder coating was around 200 by itself, but that's a great price, I was lucky.
Not sure yet. Not going for slammed or low rider status, my goals are handling performance as a daily driver, so no crashing or harshness, and eliminate the wheel gap. I've dropped interest in the Heeltoe compliance bushings because they're solid. I'm guessing somewhere around ~2" drop. At the moment I'm thinking top of the tire right at the fender.

with the TL I would say about 1.5" drop is driveable as DD. Well I m glad Houston road prevent me going with any aftermaket set up since its so rough and not to mention a city with shit load of pot hole and some of them even 18 wheelers dare not to mess with.
