This past week we received the rear clip here are some pics of it.

First off we had to trim it out meaning all the wiring and sear belt and suspension it had on.
Second we had to prepare the spots where we were going to weld it.

Next step was to get the suspension off the car, which by the way wasn't as bad as i thought it would be.

This is also how the car is right now!!!
Next weekend objective is to have the car ready for paint. There is still body work needed to be done and also re-install all the wiring and harnesses we took off, which is going to be a pain in the ass to figure what goes where.. lol
Well thanks again for watching!!! any comments are welcome.
Also who knows of a retailer for getting a exhaust system in the eastern shore? when the car was towed to my shop the guys ripped the muffler in half. so i need to buy a new one, now i priced up on from the dealer and with the j pipe and muffler comes to be around the 1,000.00 which is almost the same to what i would spend on a performance exhaust . Any advice out there ???

This is beyond intense.
To be honest, I don't think I've seen this being done before.
If I were you, while you're doing custom body work, do something crazy like widebody while you're at it.

I think he's just stupid calling it 2006 but it's 2007-08 type-s quads.

I would take GP's advice and do something totally different and make this a one of a kind Type S. Maybe add a super aggressive rear bumper with a nice sized diffuser? Idk, but I'd definitely do something to it that hasn't been down before.

this rebuild reminds of a build a guy did to a civic lol, but what he did was take the frame of a civic and put it onto an sti frame. so he has an all wheel drive civic. anyways not to take away from this amazing build.
I agree with GP also that you should make this one of a kind and do something different.
Are you planning on changing the interior also color wise? i mean a color combo to your liking? Since you have the rear half of the car off you should more pics of it all around an post. Might give someone a project to start, IE: someone might be motivated to end all rubbing issues from your pics lol who knows. Keep up the work man

Reminds me of a celcia forum i'm on....guy takes a normal 94 celica, cuts it in half and welds it with a front clip from a celica gt4 from overseas....crazy stuff and he's done more than one!

Will this thing be structurally safe were it to get rear ended again? You did pretty much weld two halves together.
Nice work though. Props to you for taking on such a task.

1st. Which is the one I'm worried about is the state police inspection. They inspect the car and do a couple of tests to make sure that it is safe driving it.
2nd. Is just the regular State inspection! which wont be a problem at all!
but stay tuned to see the results
Thanks for the comment ! I can't wait to see how it would look neither...

nice progress so far, I hope you past state inspection with ease. We love to see this car roll on the road again.
