ebelp's Progress Thread (WDP Hotness) New Wheel Update 5/29/15

Only reason was because I already had the 235's on hand that came off my Cosmis when I switched to snow tires. If I hadn't, I would've gone with 225/40's. There is some rubbing on hard bumps, so I may back off to a 10mm spacer w/ extended lugs.

if it's just for the 5MM set up, John...get another set of 225 and swap out. Extended stud install wasn't THAT bad for me, but my car has never been in snow/salt so I'm not sure you'll get the assembly off easily.
Either way...I LOVE how they look on your car. If we were local, we could totally do a good vs evil photoshoot.

Love the shots John...car and the wheels look amazing...
235 tires on a 18x9 +14 is very damn aggressive and impressive

Question, with the extended studs, I was looking at an Ichiba kit, but it doesn't say how long the extended studs are. Can I assume that they will be 10mm longer than the stock studs??
Thanks Tyler!

Love the Advans! They looked darker in your teaser shot but still look great on your car John!
Your car is what my car aspires to be... (or is the material of its wet dreams at night...)

wheels look great, i love that color and have always loved similar wheel designs to these (but could never afford them so i got the xxr 530s haha).
did the 18x9 +29 clear brembos without spacers? any chance you get the weight of the rims before you put them on?

Thank you sir!
They clear the Brembos with plenty of space. No issues there.
I didn't weigh them, but they are significantly lighter than the Cosmis were. This guy weighs the 18x10 versions in this vid:

John...the studs that come in the kit normally can accommodate a lot more than only 10MM. Biggest complication I faced was having it be long enough for v1 10's...but short enough to run the stock lugnuts if I ever drop back to no spacer. They did accomplish that but there was a lot of work involved.
On the rear, the studs are easier and harder to swap because you need to remove that huge axle nut to take the entire assembly out, bearing and all...then you can hammer them out and back in and hope you didn't slip and hit bearing etc...
definitely within your capabilities but if you can avoid it, I would.

Its really between these and the Volk ZE40s if you want a wheel with this look in my mind, but the ZE40s are at LEAST 200$ more per wheel
Then again I didn't even know they made the ZE40s until this morning when I stumbled on them on a local Craigs ad lol

I wholeheartedly blame you two for turning me into a wheelwhore that's craving his fix lol. I'd love to see a joint photoshoot with these two cars. Would be epicccccc
Definitely agree. I'm not so sold on the look of the Volks either, and I'm not itching for the Rays brand name either, just not my thing

if I remember right, the Advan RS 18x9 +29 weigh in right under 18lbs (17.8 or 17.9)...

John, being steel, they likely won't strip, but they WILL kick the aluminum teal endcap off the mu lugs!
I can dig around for measurements if you need help ordering the correct size studs. I'm assuming none of your stocks are messed up so other than for the spacer, you don't need to change studs, right?

Between this car and Jeremy's, it doesn't get much better than these 2 TL's.

It ate at me for a long time, but it looked so good when aired out, so I dealt with it. All good now!
