Canada eh! Pulled over for being low....
As the title said, I got pulled over today for being low. Cop mentioned that my car was so low and unsafe to drive. There was some cuts on tires from minor rubbing. I only had this set-up less than week. He asked me to do full turn left and right to check the gap on the fender, honk the horn, check wiper and my parking break with the car in neutral. Cop ended up taking my two license plate. He told me I couldn't drive again unless I get it fix. Asked him to escort me to my place and park it there. He said I'm lucky that he won't going to impound my car and go to court with about $2000 fine. I ended up paying $257 for tow truck that is only 5 min drive from my place. I will submit the receipt and claim it.

that's probably the dumbest thing I've heard in at least 2 months. Utterly absurd.
There are so many shit people in this world - you typically think of them as the low life criminals on TV and in jails, but this is just another example of people being douche bags because they can and getting away with it as part of the system.
It's an "F U" world. We have *REAL* problems that need to be solved, and yet our public "servants" waste time on bullshit like this.
man that pisses me off just reading about it.

Have to raise it up a little bit. The sad thing is my oem wheels got stolen last month but o4komodo offered to lend me his extra set just for inspection.

That's unfortunate, nice looking TL tho. Where I live here in the U.S my state has a statute in the vehicle code that pretty much says disconnection or modification of the factory suspension is illegal, but I have never once heard of a cop here giving anyone crap for a lowered car or a lifted truck. Anyways sorry that happened man.

LOL that was my plan after I fought my ticket [for the same reason PNoy got pulled over]
The same thing happened to me in October and I researched it.
It really is BS. The minimum fine is $400 and can go upward of $20,000. BUT that is not determined by the officer who pulled you over. The fine is determined IN COURT. So saying "I didn't give you a $2000 fine" is BS.
ALSO, OP is SUPPOSED TO have the option of towing the vehicle where ever he pleases. There is no immediate impound. He could tow it to a garage, his house, across town, where-ever he so pleases.
Tow truck companies have a flat-rate when they are commissioned by police. It's supposed to be around $140. NOT $257.
Lastly, he was supposed to be given the option to fix the height of the vehicle on the spot if capable. But I guess he wasn't given that option.
LOL I wouldn't be surprised. Although my cop was from York.
There are DOZENS of cars in Toronto roads that have serious tuckage, insane poke and even mad-camber. They're just ass-hats who target younger men driving in nicer cars. It's odd 'cause I see more Japanese make being pulled over than Euro or Domestic.
Also, I am on springs. What I did instead of changing springs was use my jacket and lift up the vehicle. I took cleverly positioned photos to give the illusion that I had raised my vehicle.
PNoy is on coils so granted it's easier for him.
Hahah actually I don't have an extra set. Was planning to drive down to Bloor and just slap my wheels on your TL for pictures and a quick "inspection".
If I had an extra set I wouldn't have mind though
Edit:
Oh yeah, the law states that a low vehicle is deemed unsafe or breaking the law when either
a) body of the vehicle makes contact with the tire
b) body of the vehicle makes contact with the ground
You probably don't do either--maybe tire contact [over dips].
BUT, cops (and the prosecutor) don't give a shit and when they see a car with 1cm wheel gap it's deemed "unsafe".
When I told the prosecutor that Porsches, Lambos, Ferarris, BMWs, Mercedes have vehicles that come out from FACTORY with similar wheel gap or equal ride height she said "No. They don't exist. If they do it's illegal." When I told her "...But, they do. And they're for sale. And many are on the road. So, if I bought one LEGALLY from FACTORY it's illegal?" The prosecutors response? "It's illegal. Either face the charges, raise the vehicle or don't buy the vehicle. Simple as that."

This type of ticket is not worth "fighting" for.
The only thing to do is to raise the vehicle and get the tires checked.
In most cases they'll only ask for a picture of the vehicle that the work has been done--since you're not allowed to drive it anyway.
Only thing I see worth trying to fight is the tow---cause that's an insane price

That sucks but I have a problem with pulled tires too... Here in MN I heard of cops starting to pull people over for that as well. It is dumb... Just my opinion I suppose.

Im pretty sure the majority of people on this site rub up and down drive ways. Thats how I get the cuts on my tires. I think its mainly because of the poke. I was there in person when these rims were installed, it was the nicest stance on a TL id ever seen. The back was 10' wide! So fat!
