I have a set of 20MM and 15MM from the stock wheels. I just ordered 5MM (rear) and 3MM (front). Not that big but when I look at them I think anything 8MM or more will be too much. I want to get as close as I can without rolling the fenders. It's the real struggle....perfect stance!! I'm actually looking to find a beater/fixer up so I can garage the TL for the winter. Maybe then I can get to all the projects I have sitting in the garage��
trust me, you dont want me anywhere near your fenders lol. But srsly, my car was a repaint and had rear quarter panel work done to it so thats why I was super nervous about it. one rear side didnt turn out great at all but it is what it is. OEM paint with no bodywork I wouldnt even think twice about it, you'd be fine!
Well I'd have to find a reputable guy or gal to do so here in the SLC area. I'm not using my high school heat gun and wooden baseball bat method on my TL haha
So I ran into a snag this weekend. My front passenger coilover top nut somehow loosened up and fell off. I went over a bump in my neighborhood and I heard a loud metal clank. I took the wheel off to to see if I could see any issues, nothing looked out of place. Well later I went out that night to do some errands and every bump it was a horrific metal on metal banging sound. The sound was so bad I was nearly in tears!! So here is what I ran into, pics attached. So I got everything back on but my problem is that I can't get he top bolt from the coilover to tighten down. In a regular strut you put the Allen wrench in the top and use the wrench to tighten it. However on the tein's the hole isn't big enough to fit any Allen wrench inside of it. I really would like to avoid taking off the entire assembly if I can. I might just hit with an impact gun real quick but I know that's frowned upon, any other suggestions?? Also remember that that bolt was covereup by the front sway bar
Thats brutal! Is there enough room to stack some jam nuts back to back above the nut you are tightening? This will give you something to hold on to until you can tighten the nut you need to. Then just break the 2 jam nuts free and remove. Hope that makes sense. This is what I do when I have to bust a nut doing worm shafts on a gear box.
I busted a nut last night but not on my TL hahaha, I have a walmart service center less than 1/2 mile from the house. I drove it with my blinkers on and they let me use their air drill to tighten it down. I was very cautious to not over tighten it. So far it seems to have worked so I'll just keep an eye on it and make sure nothing sounds out of place.
Good by cruel world of "Tighten Fuel Cap"!!!! Swapped out the old one from Mexico and put the one from Japan on. So far so good, maybe the best 55 bucks I've spent on the TL so far!! The write up on this problem was spot, the bolts were a little problematic but it only took me round 30 minutes.

I replaced mine a little over a month ago. No message since!
I'm soooo excited to never see that message again!! Now I have to figure out why my TPMS sensor system is failing, ever since I put on the new wheels on it's never went off and I put new TPMS sensors on the wheels
So I took my boys out on a foods only camping trip last weekend. I didn't want to take the TL but the wife was working late and I wanted to leave Friday night. I ended getting a few cool shots of the TL in some sweet landscape of Southeast Utah. Enjoy
Oh yeah that was a spot called Industry Butte, these doods were out there on their dirt bikes just tearing the sides of these butte's up. That's what those marks are from. It's pretty sad but I got a lot of pics but for some reason when I shot there must have been too much exposure because when I uploaded them at the house all the background was barely noticeable. Maybe because it was so bright and the ground was a very light dirt color and I had no lens filter or shade thing on they came out that way, I managed to salvage a few but lost quite a bit of them. I also noticed most of my shots are of the driver's side....guess I'm biased.

Did you ever properly address that coilover? The top is a small allen for dampening adjust, not for tightening down, right?
I believe there are 2 shaved areas on that top threading to allow the use of 2 spanner wrenches to tighten. If not, impact and a vise grip ever so slightly on the damper strut to keep it in place.

Yes I had to go with the latter and tightened it down via impact and very cautiously. It's been just fine ever since, now I have some weird clunking noise from the drivers side. Me thinks it's the end links are loose or something down underneath there. I'll look at it this weekend when I take the front fascia off to re-do my headlights. Backdrops around here so amazing, I'll get up into the mountains here soon and get some of the TL in the colorful leaves.
