Sorry for the lack of updates. The camera on my phone is messed up and doesn't work anymore unfortunately so I can't take any pictures of the progress but there hasn't been too much other than rebuilding the carbs. I was however able to take some with my good camera. I am almost ready to give her a new heart (battery) and see what happens.

Don't mind all the shit in the garage. Winter time it gets messy! Come summer its going to get a make over. Insulation, drywall, paint, outlets and more lights!

Slowly looking like a bike again!

I am not an electrical guy, as I have said before, so this harness is winning at the moment. I have a motorcycle tech friend coming home for the holidays and he said if he has time he will stop by and give me a hand.

Exhaust looks great!

These are the carbs I bought off Craigslist from California. I need a couple seals still but they are 98% complete. I think they turned out good enough for not getting them media blasted. Just added cost at that point. I just need them to run good!

These are the ones that came off the bike. These will get a full rebuild eventually and most likely sold off. They turned out great for only soaking them for a couple hours!

Few more upgrades to go but don't wanna spend money on it at the moment. Christmas presents gobbled up all the fun money for the month. Plus I have 4 months til warmer weather so no need to rush this project. It sure is a test of my patience, which I have very little during the winter months since I feel cooped up in the house since it is cold out and can't hunt at night...

When it gets warmer out again, I am going to degrease the whole motor and spray/brush it off. Hopefully it cleans up nicely like the rest of the parts.

If I don't update this again for a couple weeks. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to those who come and read my progress and ramblings!

I was about to mention how that motor needs some detail attention but of course you already have it planned. Gonna look awesome when she's all done. Merry Christmas to you too

Can't wait to get it running then I can start planning the sportbike front end and seat with a new seat pan to hold the battery and fuse box and a couple other components so I can open up the frame a little.

I have been soaking the parts in this stuff. It is great! Doesn't take too long to get the stuff clean. Hardware soaks for an hour or two but I leave the bodies in overnight to make sure all the passages are cleaned out.

I am so done messing around with those carburetor lol, adjust the fuel flow with the needles and bladder is PITA. Your pics really remind me of the old 1988 Honda Hurricane (1989 call Honda CBR)

Do you watch any of the restoration channels on youtube?
I watch a bunch and I'm always curious about their various methods.
There's doing I think salt or vinegar with water and then they run electricity through it.

Some people have boiled them in pine sol for a better surface finish but I don't need them to be new looking. They will look out of place. Maybe one day I will build a MINTY bike but not this first one. Let me get one under my belt before I spend a lot of money on making it look showroom quality!

Appologize for the lack of updates lately. The Holidays were crazy and now mother nature is making it unbearable to work in the garage. This project may be stalled for a couple weeks due to ridiculously cold days coming... I did finish the carbs though and started to stock pile some parts so the next warmish days I can do some wrenching again. Also got a new phone so I can start taking progress pics again. Boy that was annoying!

That right there is shorts and tank top weather still. Hell, come April when we start to see 40's again, everyone is in shorts and t-shirts chipping away at the ice mountains at the end of the driveways!!! We are suppose to get another blast of snow today/tonight up to 10+ inches!

Breezy I feel your pain, I had to cancel my diaper party Saturday because we ended up getting about 8inches, currently in Toledo area we have freezing rain and everyone going into ditches. Just put Blizzaks on the wife's suv so we're good to go!

Where I am its a little warmer since we are away from Lake Michigan. Gets pretty hot but not that bad. A few gross humid days but that's just about anywhere. Winters are hit or miss too. This year we had 50° weather over Christmas break. Winter finally set in and dropped another 8 inches over night and suppose to continue snowing until noon today. GF got a snow day at school, wish I could get a snow day...

Winter can go fuggiselve... Here is Wednesday morning 12am/12pm! I might actually die walking out to my truck to start it for work. Then again I am hoping it doesn't start so I don't have to go in!

That is awesome! Congrats on getting on 2 wheels. So relaxing at times. Be careful out there, to many cagers out there that don't pay attention... I can't wait to turn mine over for the first time. Shooting for mid to end of February.

Okay so...ordered new plugs, a new air filter and the jet upgrade kit for the carb...
guess I'm getting my hands dirty after all
I need it...I threw a used Vance & Hines short shot on that bitch and it bogged so bad
upon initial throttle...leaning out apparently.

I would agree you are leaning out a bit. Good thing for you, bikes are relatively cheaper parts and easier to work on than cars!

Well, to go from the bitter cold to almost 50, winter is back. We have a small stretch between yesterdays snow storm and the next one coming this weekend I believe. She's being a real bitch and making me miss my car more and more each day. On the bright side. I ordered larger jets and received my pod filters.

I wish my carb was that easy to pull...
I had ordered a "custom" carb kit for my bike but really I paid $50 for 3 jets and
a stack of photocopies of generic information on carbs. I returned it.

Oh and I got a hard lesson in using the reserve tank the other day
and that moto tires have an inner tube.
