Oh Hai Thar, ![Tongue](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
I've wanted to do this for a while now but never had the time/skills to do it. Finally had the chance to black out my headlights with the help of Brandon at retrolite.ca
Blacked out the housing, chrome strip and side reflectors but left the amber in as i wanted to maintain the OEM look while still having a darker headlight.![Too Cool](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/toocool.gif)

Very nice OP, same look I have with my lights. Kept the OEM look, but also added a little sporty-ness to the headlights ![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Behind the amber reflector, it's chrome. When you take out the amber, you paint the chrome black, and put the amber piece back in. This way it looks blacked out, but you do not have to use any type of tint.

Interesting....most clear the headlights, but kudo's for wanting to stay close to OEM. I like the wheels and lugs too.

Thanks for the comments folks. So far, I've been through some heavy rain over the weekend and no fogging, I hope it stays that way.
Yes, I do like the amber in for the OEM-ish look as i was afraid an all-black light might be a little unclean and ricy. Also not a fan of clear-out because imo, it looks like altezza lights, which would have been cool 6 yrs ago.
As for the light brightness, its no big deal but does bug me a little. Technically, light output is not affected but since the shroud is no longer chrome, there is nothing to reflect off of. So while its not any dimmer, the surface area that lights up is now smaller which makes it appear to be slightly dimmer

I know what you mean...bugs me too...I did nightshades on my amber diffuser since I didn't want to SEE the bulb and I like the amber, just not seeing the amber during the day. I left an area behind it chrome (the reflector) but the output is a bit dimmer. Can't have it all, I guess! Totally with you on the Altezza thing though...that was the reason I sold the clears...I hated that chrome piece on the ends.

Either way, your car looks amazing...it must be psychological...since the lights are such a pain to take off the car and open up, we second guess em and think what we would want to do differently. lol.
Anyway, not trying to threadjack, just showing another option for those noobs searching to do their own. I'm thinking these are some good cases for leaving the diffuser in.

If I were you I wouldn't paint the whole reflector black this will kill/dull the output if you just paint a few areas the black will reflect on all the other surfaces you left chrome making them appear dark. However once you use your lights you still have the reflective chrome for output
