Another Plasti-Dip grill thread. Pics of my '08 CBP Type S
With some free time and a can of Plasti-Dip laying around I figured what the heck. I can give it a shot and if I dont like it peel it off. Im not really a fan of blacking everything out, but I have seen a few guys do a real nice tasteful job with plasti-dip on the grill which doesnt over do it, but looks like it could have come stock this way.
So the first few pics I did just the chrome cross bar. It looked good, but something about the black with the gray plastic surround just didnt seem right. So I did it again, but the second time I did the gray portion as well. I think I like it, the finished product turned out perfectly smooth and like I said before, I think it could have come from the factory this way. Not too much black, but just enough to change it up a little bit. What do you guys think? Leave it for now, or peel that shit off? I will give it a few days and see how I feel. Taping off JUST the chrome bar. I know that Plasti-Dip oversprays like crazy so I basically covered the entire car. I didnt want to have to clay bar my car again. http://www.linenoyz.net/files/images/Dip_1.JPG Finished product of just the cross bar dipped. Here you can see the difference between the dark gray and black, and I felt it kind of clashed. http://www.linenoyz.net/files/images/Dip_2.jpg Another pic of just the middle bar dipped http://www.linenoyz.net/files/images/Dip_3.jpg Taping to do the gray part as well http://www.linenoyz.net/files/images/Dip_4.jpg Finished product of both the crossbar and lower gray piece dipped http://www.linenoyz.net/files/images/Dip_5.jpg http://www.linenoyz.net/files/images/Dip_12.jpg http://www.linenoyz.net/files/images/Dip_14.jpg |
Looks nice and simple. I like the look a lot!
|
Keeping it classy as always man!
|
nice work! but I thought you were going to keep this mint TL-S all stock since it was so mint.
|
Nice-it seems to bring out the shine in the chrome grill.
|
I definitely like the whole inside dipped.
I actually might do this this weekend. :genius: :ponder: |
Looks good and very clean!
|
Nice work. I did only the middle bar at first too, and realized i didn't like the gray lower part not matching, so I then did that part as well. I really like the look, its gotta be one of the best $6 mods out there.

oh right look better on CBP lol.

Nice work...like just the inside done on the Type S grill. I have the base so I did the silver trim on the bumper too.
|
So much unnecessary masking of your car haha but looks good OP!
|
sexy and you know it...
|
When I did mine I had the bumper off so I took the whole grill assembly apart and painted the pieces. I left the chrome outer ring alone and the A. Similiar to yours except I had mine all in pieces when I sprayed it.
Looks good. Now just black out the bars in your headlights and the lower grille. lol. |
Looks real good man. I may consider this. Where did you get the chrome trim kit?
ps - are you really on your 5th TL? lol |
looks good

I noticed this thread got brought back up. Since I have done this mod having that chrome cross bar black never grew on me. I ended up peeling that part off. I did however leave the gray plastic lower portion plasti dipped and it looks pretty good. Since its black now it matches the rest of the front trim/headlights/grill nicely compared to it being gray stock.

Looks good.
And the Type S comes with chrome trimming and bar on the front and rear. |
I like the all black with chrome "A"!
