Roger looks awesome! I was wondering what a partial blacked out base 07+ head lights looked like. Very nice work. Are you planning on doing the projector retro yourself or buy the pre made ones from HID illuzions?

Thanks! They are actually type S headlights I am just using the amber sides from my 06 headlights. I am thinking about putting the type S sides in cant decide though. As for the Retro I spoke with them quite a bit over the past week but I just cant pay for work I can do myself. If I bought them I could never say I did absolutely all my own work on my car!! I think I figured out how to do make the inside area around the projector nice and pretty and I think I like the look of the Maxima projectors better so once I can find a set i'm gonna go them myself.

Are the maxima projectors not as long. I was thinking this might be an issue because i noticed the way you have housing positioned ( they are not flush with the bumper) It might cause some issue with the passenger side horn or window washer fluid reservoir.

Not sure but I already had to relocate the horn and other stuff for the Audi DRL's so i'm not too worried

i was thinking of doing them to but as i see the videos i think i will just go with modding LEDs in the headlights and just keep the bottom for fogs because its a little price or might just go with both once i make a little more money as everyone needs. here is what im going to do but make both leds white and amber as the real R8 with Zleds help. or maybe go wit Dual LED halo rings white/amber.

Damn this look extraordinary bro. Fitment looks OEM. I actually like the way the round fogs finish it off.

Ya I mean you can use whatever you want but those are not what I used I got mine from Umnitza. These are not PNP in the slightest. Quite a bit of work involved, I bought them knowing that there was a good chance I was going to throw away 250$ especially when I had to cut the ends off. I'm glad I did though!

I love the design of the reflectors the LED stars are mounted on the bottom facing up and the individual reflectors direct the light forward in such a way that they have a visible cutoff like a projector! They are not just blinding spotlight style LEDs its really cool because if your standing in front of the car if you walk off to the side toward the door they almost completely disappear like there turned off. Its so drivers in opposing lanes don't get blinded if they look over at them.

Hey roger, did you seal up the end sealing the end where you cut off th excess? How did you end up mounting them to the bumper? I'm sure you don't want to give out your ideas so you can pm me if you'd like.

No I dont care really if someone wants to do this more power to them! I am always willing to share info thats how I learn I know I said that in the beginning but the truth is I cant keep secrets.

First I sealed the ends with rubber butyl then cut a piece of plastic to the shape and JB welded it on the end.

For the mounting I cant find many pics I think some are still on my SD card. I'll upload them and post once I find them. Here you get the idea.

Heres a shot of some switches with also reveal some projects in progress. Right now I have the DRL hooked to the left switch. The middle switch is to switch the monitor for the CarPC once I get it in installed. The other two are the front/rear camera switches but only the rear is functional now still have to mount the front camera but the wiring is all in place

Oh and if you were wondering the hole on the left is now a double USB port in for anticipation of the CarPC.

That looks pretty good. As soon as you get those pics uploaded of the mounting let me know. Think these LED lights will look much better than our halogen DRLs I'd like to replace.

Sorry Ron didn't see your post. In that picture the DRL is not cut yet. I would of liked to just remove the fogs altogether and have the DRL's but the curve of the DRL was much greater then the TL bumper . The only way I saw to make it work was to keep the fogs on the end and as a result I had to chop the end of the DRL off.

FYI There wasn't any wiring or LEDs in the section I removed

Excellent Roger! I was looking to see someone attempt this feat. In my mind I thought, OK, this could be done; but would require a lot of fab. You proved that anything can be done if you put your mind to it. Many people can say they had an idea. It doesn't matter till a trailblazer gives others the confidence to initiate.

Much props for you bro!! I saw your car yesterday on the Sunrise HWY. I was in front of you for a while. Traffic was very slow.

The pictures don't do it justice. It was at night and the car lit up the whole HWY. You car looked so cool in my rearview. I don't know if you noticed but I gave you the thumbs up through the sunroof.

Those lights look HOT!!!
