2005 to 2007/2008 Type-s rear ASPEC Underbody Spoiler conversion
First off, sorry for being a wannabe with the type-s emblem but I couldnt resist. A guy can always have hope cant he?
Anyways, my ATLP Quad cat back exhaust gets put on Wed so I got the dirty work out of the way. THESE PICS ARE NOT OF THE ATLP! (yet)
There pics are to give people an idea what needs to be done to put a 2007/2008 type-s ASPEC underbody spoiler on a 2004 - 2008 base TL without having to buy a type-s bumper. There are some threads out explaining how this can be done but I found they didn't have very good pictures of how everything lines up once the cuts are made.
Oh, and let me know how you like my new eBay'd trunk lip spoiler and the rear grill insert I fabricated up out of some aluminum gutter covers

looks better. the lower grill mesh looks good too. but, it looks like you mounted it too low. this is the second install like this that ive seen. when you mount the spoiler it should cover the small edge going around the bumper, and shouldn't see it. also it should almost touch the horizontal body to bumper line, when looking at the car from the side. on yours it looks like its about 1/2" too low.

I see what your saying, and I think here is where the issue lies: Because I had the 04-06 aspec lip installed previosly, and having read that the previous holes drilled in the bumper could be used, I took that approach. In effect, yes its a little low when putting on the TL-S underbody spoiler. Do you think this will cause any rubbing/fitment issues with the ATLP? Who else have you seen with this type of "1/2 inch too low" install?

From dealing with this first hand, cutting off a little more of the bumper cover than some others have done has nothing to do with the incorrect fitment that jltp04 pointed out, and that I was quite aware of. If you take a look at this thread ( https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/my-best-attempt-explain-show-how-install-type-s-aspec-rear-lip-kit-632110/ ), you will see a thread posted by one of *the* first guys to do this, Fulani.... and as Kennedy mentions further down in the thread, the only purpose in not cutting off the entire bottom half would be for some potential better stiffness to the bumper cover/lip as a whole and it's evident to me that this is purely do to (as I mentioned in a previous post) the use of my old previously drilled mounting holes from my other base model ASPEC lip for a mockup. The dimensions of this lip measuring vertically differ slightly from Base model spoiler to type-s spoiler.

Just thought i'd add... No matter how hard as you push up, its is NOT possible when using these older aspec lip holes to cover the groove that is showing where the lip wraps around the sides. I would need to drill new holes which was not an option due to their close proximity the the old ones.

Thanks, but that was already addressed in my first post. glad to see how the trolls have infultrated. Would it make you feel better if i took it off? Just havin a good time with the fact that the rear looks alike man. Im not claiming to have a 3.5L or nice 2 tone seats, etc. Different strokes for different folks. In this case i'm the odd one out.

OOOOOOOOOOH you drilled the holes? gotcha, see I did jguerra's rear lip and thewanderer's and I never did drill a hole
thewanderer is a type s, and I installed a base aspec lip on his type s bumper

I never drilled the holes simply because removing the bumper would just make the install lengthier, I just used a hell of a alot of double stick tape, and since I did not hack up the bottom of the bumper off I used the tabs that were already there on the bottom just underneath
