I am still on the stock suspension at 100k. I plan on lowering it when I replace the struts. 1'' or less. Nothing stupid. Just to tighten it up a tad. I would be happy with just a .5'' all around. Suggestions?

Or is it best just to go coilovers for the $$$... as opposed to lowering springs and very good aftermarket struts?

Might be a chance I just replace with OEM parts. But it still rides pretty smooth so it might not be anytime soon.

But in all honesty these cars do not have much wheel gap at all compared to others. I like having ride quality and ground clearance since it is my daily. Not trying to sacrifice that for a "Look" hence a very small drop if any.

Yes that is my "fun" car. 2005 stone white Neon SRT-4, just rolled over 20k miles. Bigger turbo, fuel system etc etc. Car is stupid clean. I have owned 6 over the years. (2 I bought wrecked to part out) But my current one is the unicorn I was looking for.

A white 20k mile srt4 is a unicorn. I drove my friends for about a week, it was a good little car. Nice taste sir-its just a shame so many of them are rotted out or beat to hell

Yeah they are fun and pretty easy to wrench on. Thanks, I am a fan of all performance cars.Yes most are in really bad shape and owned by idiots. My guess out of the 24k or so made from 03-05 I would say 80% are wrecked or not running today.

Well it is a Neon.

But I LOVE my TL. Car rides so smooth, has decent power and I am getting 24-25mpg city/highway right now. I remember my brother's friend got a brand new black 2008 TL-S with the 6 speed back in 2008 or so. I just loved the looks of it! It just blew me away when I saw it for the first time. Car has such a timeless design and I am so glad I got one.

Heck for under $10k you got a hell a lot of car for the money, sure its not the fastest in the segment but it will do the job just fine.

I work nights and I get off around 3am. I drive by the weight station every early morning on the interstate and it's closed at that time. I started to notice the scale was on. So I said screw it and pulled off the interstate and pulled up to it! With me in it and a 3/4 tank of gas. Full interior, bone stock. Slightly wider tires at 245. 3780lbs. Not too bad. I am thin at 150lbs. So 3630 without me in it. Not sure how accurate it is since they are setup to weigh tractor trailers.

Type S AT weight released by Honda is around 3670 lbs, so the scale is correct.

I have a friend with a KBPS TL-S and he has an A-SPEC front lip that is painted, jsut has a small crack on the bottom. He is selling it for $75. Would that be a good addition to my car? Or throw the looks off of it? The thing I don't like about that is where it overlaps on the side of the factory front fascia. Might grow on me though.

I never cared for the body kit on the TypeS. Only one I liked was the A-Spec kit for the 2004-06 TL.

At first I wanted to put the lip kit on my type s but not a big fan of it in silver. I think they look better on white and black cars though. $75 sounds like a good deal so I say why not

Wow! Now that looks great. That line is way less noticeable since it goes to the fog lamp and is lower. I see you are running the TSW Nurbrugrings? I ran those on my 2010 Corvette, loved them. Lightweight too.

Just rolled 108k on the car now. Been running great. I LOVE the stock wheels, but I am tossing around the idea of going with an aftermarket set. Mainly so I have 2 sets of wheels. The stockers for winter time and aftermarket for nice weather. The stockers have curb rash from the previous owner that I touched up so its not as noticeable. I am still factory ride height. Don't plan on lowering it until my factory struts start to wear out. And when I do lower it, it won't be that much at all. I might even just put factory back in honestly. I like a smooth riding daily driver and these cars honestly don't have a 4x4 look stock. I have seen some slammed TL's and they just look horrible. Not my cup of tea.

Now for aftermarket wheels I would like to stay with a 17x8 or maybe up to a 17x9? Would 18's look good? I see some TL's had factory 18'' wheels. I do not want a heavier then stock wheel. Or a black colored wheel. Prefer Gray/Silver and maybe Bronze. Any ideas on a good looking (subjective) wheel for my blue TL? Not looking to spend a whole lot. Like under $250 a wheel. I don't care if its a cheap brand. I am not going to car shows and showing off my daily driver.

These caught my interest via Discount tire Direct: I put in my vehicle information so they should all fit and I won't have to worry about Caliper clearance issues.

For those of us with Brembo brakes, the options for aftermarket wheels is pretty limited. If you are staying with 17" wheels then TireRack only has 10 different 17x8 or 17x8.5 wheels, if you are looking to upgrade to 18" wheels, they have 24 options.

If I was going to make a change I'd *probably* keep my OEM 17" wheels for winter use and go with a nice set of 18" wheels for the rest of the year.

Here are a few options which might meet your needs:
Enkei Racing PF01, $266.40 per wheel, 17x8 size and 17.0 pounds: https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...d+Transmission

Enkei Racing PF01, $318.60 per wheel (OUCH!), 18x8 size and 18.7 pounds: https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...d+Transmission

Enkei Performance EKM3, $185.34 per wheel (much better), 18x8 size and 25.0 pounds (about the same weight as the OEM wheels): https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...d+Transmission

^Great options I like the Enkei M52 too. Says Hyper Black but they look more of a silver to me. Sucks the options are so limited for the guys with the bigger brakes. (type S or all the manual cars)

https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...ModClar=Type-S This is going to be tough.

Yup, the M52s are also on my list of "Favorites"; apparently you and I have similar tastes; no (or almost no) drop, no black wheels.

I decided to go with the Enkei M52's in Hyper Black. Tirerack sells them for $241.52. But I found them on Amazon for $212.50 each. There is a local Discount Tire that will price match. They said they can get them in. Now I need to figure out what tire and tire size to go with. I will probably add TPMS sensors too. I actually enjoy seeing my tire pressures in cabin and keeping an eye on them. Plus no TPMS light is a huge plus.

I know exactly what you mean and it's the only reason that gets a negative from me for an ASPEC. The 04-06 front lip blends way better than the 07/08. But everything else about it is great, makes the car more wider looking and agressive.

Well felt like my wheels were out of balance after I rotated them myself. So I took the car to get the tires balanced for free since I got the road hazard warranty via Discount Tire. Well turns out my passenger rear tire had a small bubble on the inside of the sidewall. So I am getting a new tire for free which is great!
But the bad news is my passenger front is bent and could not be serviced. No wonder I had a bit of vibration. So I started looking locally for a TL-S waffle wheel. No luck so far. But I see there is an aftermarket replacement on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-17-x-8-...wAAOSwf-xZpBWT These weigh a little more correct and the color might be off? Get that?

There were 3 other used TL-S wheels but they all had pretty bad curb rash on them But were around $130 shipped each.

Another option is just to get it fixed. I mean physically it looks fine but I guess it is bent according to the tech. There is a local place that fixes wheels. I need to get a quote on that.

My new tire came in today. So had that installed. Car seems to be a little bit smoother on the interstate now. But I still have that "bent" wheel in the front still. I actually found a guy that has some TL-S wheels. He said he has a like new Enkei OEM one that was only driven on for 4 months and has a tire for $100. So hopefully going to be able to pick that up this weekend. Can't beat that deal! If I couldn't find one I would of gotten the bent one fix. Which I will probably end up doing any how and have a full size spare.

Well meeting up with the guys "friend" who had the OEM TL-S wheel..turned out not soo good. Right off the bat I noticed it was a lighter gray. I flipped it around and it said MADE IN CHINA on it. Yup, it was a knock off. Glad I didn't get it. Guy didn't know and he said his friend told him to get the best out of the bunch. I rotated my new tire to the front and the "bent" one to the rear. I looked on the inside and a TL-S OEM wheel has the Enkei stamp and HondaMotor stamped on it.

Didn't look bent at all visually but the guy at the tire shop said the machine told him it was bent and couldn't be balanced. So now having that wheel in the rear the car is even smoother on the interstate. Not in a rush to get it fixed. Car is running great mechanically at 109k miles now.

I am in JoCo area.

So a local has a set of A-Spec 18'' wheels and tires on his TL-S. He said he would sell them once he gets his wheels back soon from the powder coater.

How much do they go for typically? I don't want to low ball him. He doesn't really want to sell them but he says money talks.

Not much new with the TL. Did a Drain and fill on the transmission. I need to do it another 2 times. Last time I just did a 2x2. That was like 20k ago. Fluid looked very clean when I drained it a week or so ago. I also have 3 new OEM transmission pressure sensors I have been sitting on for about 2 years now haha. Haven't installed them yet.

Yeah condition should matter a bit haha. They seem to be a very rare wheel. I never see them for sale...

Well my buddy told me to just come over and check them out while he was working. So I did. I took some pictures.
The light gray marks are just dirt. But the chrome is flaking n various places. (dark areas) Has old tires on it, 235/40/18. He said the rears are low on tread. No TPMS sensors. Drivers side front had curb rash almost all around the wheel and you see that dent. He just got them recently and threw them on. Lives on a gravel road so I am sure they can be cleaned up.

He said he was firm on $350 for all 4 with tires of course. Worth it? I am sure I could get them powdercoated and perhaps fixed for around $500 or so more.

Yeah, pretty rough; that said, I'd buy them for the right price and then have them professionally reconditioned.
