'07 WDP With Carbon Fiber Hood
Just dropped off tl at the shop today to fix the accident i was in and to install the cf hood i bought. Its a Seibon cw style hood and the fitment looks perfect can't wait to get this on the car the shop is going to hook me up install the hood for free since its just a straight bolt on install nothing crazy will post pictures once I get car back.Ive never seen this hood on our 3g tls before, so im excited of course
I do have a question though. The guy said it wasnt necassary to use hood pins even though when i bought it the website warned me to install some. It is wise to add weight to the latch area or use hood pins so it doesnt fly off haha. Much help welcomed!

I've been wondering what that one would look like on the TL.
I've got a VIS CF hood on my car now and no hood pins, I think they all state that due to liability.
For reference most of the carbon hoods out there have a fiberglass underskeleton so the strength to hold the hood isn't always there. The area around the latch can crack as can the area where the hood bolts to the hinges. If the latch lets go your hood comes up, it happened to a guy that I work with on his M3.
I didn't install pins on mine, I actually have some aerocatches in one of my drawers here .. if I see it starting to crack they'll go on though.
I would probably at least swap the mesh on it for a black mesh, can pick some up that's powder coated from customcargrills
I'm using stuff from there for the vents on my RJ body kit.
I actually have an uncut sheet of their diamond XXL that's powder coated black, I ended up changing my mind and went with their perf hex mesh (honeycomb) in gloss black powder coat.

Hey mzilvar,
Yeah my main worry in all this is the safety of the hood you know staying on the car lol.
But yeah i head the same thought of getting new black mesh to better blend in with the hood, but maybe the silver will compliment the silver grille accents but ill know that once its all done.
I work for a online auto company (idk if i can say the name on here because of the forum rules, can I?) but yeah ill just buy some different type of black sheets. Thanks for the heads up man. Like i said, ill defiantly post pictures once i get the car back later this week so the people who've been wondering how it would look, now they will lol.

I think sometimes the silver or polished diamond mesh just looks too much like chicken wire. Looks pretty easy to swap it out, just careful with those metal tabs that they don't break off the C-MOD grille has similar tabs holding the mesh and they're fairly fragile anytime I messed with them.
I'm also using just 1x of the hood struts and it holds the hood just fine.

holy crap that is an aggressive looking hood.
sorry to say, it does not belong on your ride without major major mods to the car.
please do the following in no particular order ASAP.
- clear and black out your headlights
- lower that mother fucker
- throw some rims on that hoe.
- vinyl the roof black to match the hood
- get rid of front license plate
- get an aspec kit.
DO THIS TOMORROW.
as you look like a wannabe Evo

Like i said before, the hood was done because i got into an accident. Cost of this new Seibon hood from ,y job was half the price of an unpainted OEM hood. I will do a lot of the mods listed above in time $$$ rules everything.

^i'd rock one. (provides cooling without having to hack up your OEM hood.) although, I'd paint it body color.
YOu said its half off through your job???
*edit
well, maybe not. I dont like how the scoops protrude out of the hood.
if they were vents, like M3 vents, then I'd buy a CF hood like that.
