WTF? 05TL needs more rpm to get the same acceleration as 03?

When accelerating my 03 TL-P onto a freeway, I can basically stay below 2500 rpm and get to 60 mph pretty fast.

But while driving my 05 TL, besides it being much less smoother, it barely accelerate if I don't push it above 2500 rpm!

I know the gearing is different, but on the same gear, the engine shouldn't behave differnetly, did you guys experience this?

Yes, this is true the 03 had more torque in the lower part of the gearing. it is all the way it is geared and the way the motor is tuned. They did it for smoothe accelration.
