WHY WHEELHOP IS SO DEADLY!! LSD carnage =/
ive expressed this in the past and this was one of my biggest reason in working hard with innovative on getting some mounts designed for our cars. it was wheel hop that killed my original accord 6spd.... just an FYI, this transmission had ZERO track time whatsoever before this happened.. my friend out of the blue wanted to go to the 1/8 mile at irwindale back in november. i did exactly 2 runs, first was no traction, 2nd run had bad wheelhop for most of 1st and 2nd. right after, i knew somthing was wrong. going straight was fine, turning left went CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK....
well, heres what happened,...
the culprits,
%$*#!! innovative 60A bushings, only after a year,
and control arm bushings,
EVERYONE make sure your mounts (stock or AM) are in good shape. if their stock, than order new ones. if they are innovative, may i seriously suggest going with the 75A bushings at the very minumum. i have them now and love'em. next time i think ill choose the 85A
dont forget about the control arm bushings too. my car had around 90k and they were badly cracked as you can see.
to be honest, ive had much worst wheel hop than this in the past, even on the street. for me to shatter the LSD this way was a complete surprise to me. this is why i think pushing more than 350whp out of these cars is just plain silly, unless someone seriously looks into beefing them up a bit.
the thing about these transmissions, they give no warning signs whatsoever. one minute your WOTing in 2nd, then POP, click click click........ and its gone. ive been through a few =/

oh man... honestly... cross your fingers and hope the j series swap being popular of late would in the very least have obx (known to hold 400hp) make a lsd

Is it just me or do you all get very bad wheel hop when you turn off the VSA and floor it? My first time trying it, the wheel wells were full of smoke. About 2 months later I had a late hesitation and it would hop the rear end very badly. Is this a concern?

well this happened back in nov and the car was only down for a couple of days. ji ust want to post this and make you guys aware by checking your MM's and bushings before this happens to you.
after going through a few TL transmissions the 3 1/2 years ive been SC'd, ive heard a few good things about the 03 CL-s 6spd transmissions, which i found with 56k on it. 2 of my friends have these in their 6th gens and beat the living hell out of them for years, with out a single issue. i strongly believe honda went a little cheap in 04 when it came to the the 6spd accords/TL's. looks like they swithched from having solid counter and main shafts in the CL-s, to hollow shafts and possibly gear material for the rest of the models after that. either for weight reduction and/or lower the cost to build an assembly. either way, it is the smoothest shifting trans ive had yet, so there might be something to it

jeez! I have serious wheel hop, especially with traction off. I had no idea that it has to do with the motor mounts. Thought it was the falken tires. I have stock mounts @ 50k, I will probably go with oem again. Are there any other warning signs of failing motor mounts?

The link below is from the 2G section, but it still applies to our 3G.

so you've spent 3k+ just in trans... cuz locally the best I could find for anything manual was $1300 so I gave up on the v6 swap (being that 1300 just for the trans is overpriced considering the motors are everywhere for $300)

that sucks man! So let me get this str8t, all of your tranny failures happened while you were boosted? Were u at the strip drag racing or auto-crossing or on a track with the car? Just when I started to consider boosting my car...
Man, u gotta serious love for hondas if u have swapped in more than 2 trannys!
I take it the 2G trany bolts rt up? Are the gear ratios different in anyway?
Best of luck to ya man! Your car is bad ass and puts down some SERIOUS power btw

How much power are you running again? I've got an A/T and I'm pretty stock but thought about throwing on a jpipe here in the near future. Is this something I should be concerned about as well?

Werd thanks guys I actually had my buddy (Honda tech) check my motor mounts today just in case and he said they're in great shape. Good luck with your next transmission, there has to be a company (like PPG) that can do beefier LSDs / gearsets for you out there.
I was pretty lucky, the diffs and gears held up fine in my old STi. Subaru definitely overengineered their drivetrains though.

Ouch that sucks, I dont see why innovative never came up with a solution. I've had an idea in the back of my mind for a engine mount, maybe you would like to test it.

Don't we have to send in the old mounts, before we get the new mounts?
If so, what are you guys doing with your engine without the mounts... I know obviously not drive it, but just let it drop down or keep it raised using stands?
Mine have donuted, and need to figure out if I should wait for some new mounts, or get these swapped out
