Who's build Turbo TL is this?
Just came across this video on YouTube and was wondering if it was a member's ride here on the forum. Would love to know more about the build and what it consists of.

I'd like to know is what the majority of his turbo piping looks like. There are a couple of photos online, but very few details on the hardcore specs. I'm not sure that the owner knows what's actually done to the car. Hopefully he'll chime in sometime and give us actual details.

im confused lol...thought he moved to cali
guess i gotta go back to the dyno and beat those numbers lol

I have seen this car in person and I'm good with the tuner. I have taken a few cars to him in the past and the guy is a genius. Cars a beast! It just doesn't sound like a tl when it's idling. He's got stop tech front and rear bbk last I saw it in the summer.

? Huh? I'm confused here. Anyways, transformation in noise level changes the more power you have. It's like the more you work out, the more your voice goes Lower and LOWer and LOWER. Tell any woman that.

Didn't know there was a turbo (completed) TL in the GTA! Last I remember there was a company working on one around the same time Rodney was doing the turbo... and the Canadian one was only running 2psi with an incomplete build and no tune. Never heard of the TL again...
I wonder if this is the same car I saw nearly 2 years or so ago...

My guess it's probably not the same car... The owner of this car isn't on this forum though, but I can provide the details of his build. His first setup was at 5-6 PSI.
If you check my channel on Youtube (Dynamotorsports), do a search on turbo TL you can find this same car through its various stages.
In the first year, the setup was custom built, same GT35R turbo but on stock motor at 5-6 PSI for the first year. It made 343 WHP.
Video:
On the stock motor, a custom AEM EMS was wired in to replace the piggyback and also converted to manual throttlebody. It made 442 WHP @ 11 PSI.
Video:
The ignition system was weak from the factory, so the car occasionally misfired at this power level under hard pulls. Eventually, the rod bearings couldn't take it and it spun a bearing after a few months of driving. It threw a rod at a car meet/event when he was doing a few BOV neutral revs. The owner has a habit of chasing down bikes on the highway and loves topspeed pulls, so generally speaking, the J32 motor held up very decently IMO.

It was time for a built motor, and the setup was a 3.5L bottom-end, and we chose a very high compression build to give the car an N/A-like response down at low RPM's. The owner drives the car downtown a lot, so he wants quick peppy power at very low RPM's off idle / 1st gear. We upsized the turbine housing, and chose a very low pressure drop intercooler to cope with the high compression. I also lengthened the turbo up-pipes by double the length to prevent backpressure build-up. It got a nice set of Denso iridium plugs and a primary voltage booster for the coil packs and it helped, but we were still ignition-limited though. The car managed 504 WHP safely on 94 oct and 200cc of water/meth. I have good experience with high compression turbo setups, and tuned a lot of S2000 turbo setups that are 11.5+ CR from the factory. The car ran well for the year.
Video:
Lastly, the most recent setup was the video shown on the first post. There were some improvements made, and we upgraded to S2000 coil packs and made custom brackets for the coils. There were some cooling mods done too (FMIC fan), and upgraded to ID1000 injectors. This time, it managed 604 WHP.
With this setup, there was also boost by gear/RPM setup up through the standalone to help traction. The boost was a bit unstable due to a very soft base wastegate spring (so that it can boost 5-6 PSI in first gear), but it was still manageable with a bit of ups and downs on his dyno graph.
The anti-lag system on the car is a rally-style ALS.. It has PWM air injection valve at the turbo inlet + AFR curve/late timing map synced to create the backfires. It is not a rich condition, as the fuel is burning before the turbo and not inside the combustion chambers. It is the same system I have on my Supra, Camry and my Evo as well
Tuning will be a lot more simple for the TL's now due to the introduction of FlashPro... To my surprise, I am not seeing too many turbo builds on this car at all although the engine management solution is already out there.
I have a few TL's lined up for turbo setup this winter too, so perhaps I can start building a much more budget friendly setup this time. The FlashPro should make tuning a lot easier, rather than wiring in a full standalone and getting all the stock dash, A/C and functions to work like stock.

Tony_the_Tiger how much did you charge to make that kit? How much to duplicate just the turbo manifold?

That anti lag system has be curious. Im doing my JnR turbo kit this winter and fell in love with this car when doing my research. I will probbaly be contacting you about a few questions if you dont mind.
