whats the Difference?
this topic might have already been brought up before... but what is the difference between Catbacks and Axlebacks? Does it matter which one you get regarding performance wise.. whoever knows how they work, i would like to know detailed how they work.. im just confused.. thanks

A Full Cat-back exhaust system, usually in an upgraded piping diameter from stock (2.25") helps improve exhaust flow. More flow means the exhaust gases are able to leave the combustion chamber faster and in a higher velocity. Higher velocity exhaust gasses usually promote a scavenging effect behind it's following "tail" that help combustion waste evacuate the chamber more efficiently, thus allowing a denser "fresh" charge to take it's place. A more concentrated combustion means more power.
Axle-backs work to the same degree, but only replace the mufflers. With only the mufflers changed, you keep the stock piping diameter, thus the only power gain you receive is from freeing up the obstruction inside the stock muffler. In most cases power gains are minimal unless the car came equipped with a performance orientated exhaust pipe diameter.
Sorry for the wordy description. I'm trying to keep the lingo to a minimum.
